Alot of has been made of how much the weather will effect the game this sunday. Everyone seems to think that we won't be able to pass the ball against the bears because it will be so cold and may be snowing. For starters according to weather.com, it calls for 35degrees at the time of kickoff. 30% chance of precip. So the field won't be frozen, and the precip if there is any will not be frozen. And they are calling for winds of 8-10 mph. That is no big deal. Now, watching NFL Total Access I saw Adam Schefter make many great points about this issue. He basically said, Breeze played college at Purdue(cold), Colston played at Hofstra(cold), Reggie played great at Notre Dame(cold). He said the cold is not going to be an issue and I couldn't agree more.
defensive players will tell you that poor conditions give the offense an advantage....since the receivers know exactly where they are going, the defensive backs are at a disadvantage if there is poor footing and last time i checked i believe both teams must play in the exact same conditions....i'm looking it up in the official NFL rulebook now but I believe that is right
Can't wait to see da bears def when Deuce or Reggie throw their first juke move. Just like Deuce did on Trotter this past saturday.
The cold doesn't really bother players, unless it's brutally cold. 30ish isn't that bad. Wet and wind are much more of a factor and concern for players. A sloppy field neutralizes speed and renders someone like Bush as a mere mortal since you have to tiptoe through the slop. It has little impact on someone like Deuce since he's a plodder. QBs hate wind more than anything else. Balls tend to sail and accuracy is a problem.
I wouldnt mind a stiff wind as I think Grossman's biggest asset is throwing intermediate to long passes, not dinks and dunks. So let's get some wind going.
I dont know but I do know it is much easier to pass in the snow rather than rain. Good question though.
But Brees doesn't have the strongest arm, either. Of course, he can beat you on the dink-and-dunk, not just the deep ball.
