No one really knows what kept the deal from happening last year. Maybe Jimbo didn't like the way the press jumped all over the story, blew it up, and he backed out. Maybe LSU wasn't willing to pay what Fisher wanted so they back peddled and retained Miles. Could be any number of things. Maybe now they're willing to do whatever they think will make LSU relevant again.
Love to mess with this cicular firing squad. Yall remind me of the high school clicks in the John Hughes teenage movies disent and opposition was not tolerated.
You have no idea what type of fan I am. Secondly my point was that Alleva wants to make a hire that is noteworthy. And O is not his first choice. And that seems obvious. Because coach O wouldn't have had a interim tag to start with. Recruiting can be effected with uncertainty of staff. The current situation with O does not warrant a long term deal. And that may keep him from the potential of landing the recruits he covets. Alleva doesn't believe O is the answer and may not land Jimbo or Herman or whoever the next best guy is. O might have his hands tied, and therefore both could very well be gone in two seasons.
Alleva is a knee jerk reaction AD that is more interested in which way the wind is blowing that particular day than he is facts. The Duke Lacrosse case, keeping Miles last year all point to a guy that is too lazy to dig much past the surface of things. He has a boner for Jimbo and just like last year it will be Jimbo or bust. I don't trust his judgment nor his brains to get this right. I fear we may be looking at another shit show.
It's not just Alleva on the Fisher or bust train. Several of the decision makers are also all pro Jimbo. And apparently LSU really is his dream job, but the money/situation has to be right. Remember he has a special needs kid who he'll be leaving in FL.
