A bit of a head case as DC is not necessarily a bad thing as long as he not dangerous or getting the program in trouble. There is something to be said for a DC that leaves people scratching their heads a bit. So, I suppose the question is, is he plum crazy, or crazy like a fox and a bit eccentric to boot?

Just read that Brick Haley just signed a new 2 year contract. What if Chavis gets Orgeron for his DL coach over at A&M? Yaw Yaw running loose recruiting in La.. Would that be a nightmare?

We've continued to have talent and our defenses have been good, it's just been more of a finesse-type of defense if that makes sense. In my opinion two of the best ever at LSU, PP7 and TM7 were more of the pocket-picking, knocking down the ball type moreso than laying some wood to the QB on blitzes, etc.

I was originally opposed to Orgeron as a DC. Nothing in his history suggests that is the fit for us at that position. In combination with Pendergast, however, is a different story. That would be a much better play. Orgeron coming in seems like it would come at the expense of a Brick Haley departure. Is Orgeron better than Haley? Is there a fit for both? Recruiting would get a big bump for sure.

I was not impressed with Brick's DL lately. Not sure if it was a product of his talent available or if he just under achieved. We were man handled up front by smaller schools which should have never happened. If we get pressure with our front it greatly handicaps what an offense can do, and those late game comebacks never happen.

I've posted about the DL frequently in past years concerning the lack of pass rush and push up the middle. I'm still not sure if it's scheme, player type, the player is just a bust or player development. LSU has had a number of explosive big time recruits that never made much of an impact. Busts happen everywhere, but guys the level of Anthony Johnson and Greg Gilmore are surprising. I'm definitely most interested in seeing what a change in DC does for DL play and development.

That's my thought Brett. I know Brick knows what he is doing, just not sure if being light in the ass was dictating the lack of control at the LOS or if the DC schemed it that way. I like aggressive, so that kind of scheme drives me crazy. I'm of the school if you control the LOS on both sides of the ball you have many options to work with.
