I'm making almost twice as much as I was 5 years ago. And no, I wasn't in school then. Supposedly, there is a second wave of bad mortgages that is going to hit pretty soon. I've heard that the impact will be at least as bad, if not worse, than the first round. That's not encouraging, if true. Regardless, our economy got into such terrible shape because of people's inability to keep from just borrowing and borrowing and borrowing. A large part of our economy was essentially built on money that was never really there in the first place. That's why it was so easy for it to collapse. Full economic recovery means that our society will have to re-shape itself into one that is far more responsible; we're talking major paradigm shift. Unfortunately, the prospects of that happening anytime soon are essentially zero.
Yep. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I mean it. Three years ago I hated my job but LOVED the money. Today, I LOVE my job and wish I made more money. I'm sure there have been worse trades.
Thanks. Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate how lucky I am to have a job that I love that also compensates me handsomely. Here is an article that I just saw on Digg about the impending second wave of bad mortgages: Housing Crisis Getting Uglier in 2010 - CBS Evening News - CBS News
