As of the last publication by rivals, LSU has: 0 five star 12 four star 5 three star 2 not rated Hardrick will certainly be a 4 star in the JUCO listings. Fordham most likely a 3 star. Adding Storm to the fold: 14 four star 6 three star 3.70 rating Not a bad start, I would say. LSU getting both Seastrunk and Reed (especially if Reed can get his 5th star) would probably get LSU into the top 3 nationally on NSD and the 2600 point range. I suspect we'll end up with a couple of more 4 stars, to end up with 16 (17 if Reed stays a high 4 star). LSU could have as many as 17 in the rivals top 250.
You sure know how to count those chickens before they hatch, you eternal optimist you. :yelwink2: Reed may not get bumped back to a 5 star, and don't forget if we sign a punter or kicker he will probably be a 3 star.
Yeah, remember I accounted for 2 specialists both at 3 stars. Now I am hearing that only 1 specialist is most likely going to be the case. So even the eternal optimist may have sold us a little short in terms of the 4 star vs 3 star ratio. I had it at 14-11, but it appears we are headed for a 17-8 split, or there abouts (18-8 if Reed doesn't get a 5th star). It's going to be another solid class, no doubt. That's the bottom line. And Les is pulling in all the great character kids with the great upside and big hearts. It's all you can ask of this program going forward.
It's going to be awesome if (when) we pull Reed and Seastrunk.. if they're both 5*s we're going to be laughing about this being a "down year". When a top-10 recruiting class is a down year.. :thumb:
Here are the Rivals numbers starting last year and going back until we had a really small class. avg. stars class rank 3.79 2nd 3.58 11th 3.88 4th 3.64 7th If we average about 3.7 this year we will be performing up to expectations and all will be right with the world. The class rank is really contingent upon the competition and if the big boys, USC, etc., take a full class. P.S. We have had at least two 5 star players in each of the above years. If Josh Johns gets a scholly he would pull the avg. stars down a little.
That would equate to a 3.72 and a 6th ranking on average since Miles has been here. We're right on pace to hit those numbers and possible even better it on both accounts.
Things definitely looking up for LSU. Eric Reid, Trevon Reed and now Justin Hunter all have legitimate shots at getting a 5th star. Add in the fact that Damien Robinson, JR Ferguson and Jeff Luc still have us on their short lists. LSU potentially looking at anywhere from 1 to 4 five star players. Even with only 2 five star players, LSU would be projected to end up with a 3.78 average. LSU appears to be headed towards a top 3 finish at this point.
