A neighborhood kid I grew up with put mayo in his grits. I couldn't stand to eat breakfast with him. He also put ketchup on his eggs which I thought was gross, too . . . until I tried salsa on eggs, which is pretty tasty.

Me, I think cheese grits are an abomination.

I thought that too but i tried them at a restaurant. There's a dish at Pappadeaux that serves them with grilled fish and they were pretty good. They're served with ham chunks in them as well. Mayo in my grits though, hell no.

I have been served shrimp grits that were pretty damn good, too. I just prefer my shrimp sans grits and my grits san shrimp.

    I must disagree here.

ETA: the andouille cheese grits at Pappadeaux's as a side order is pretty darned good.

I don't eat grits often, but when I do I stir in cheese & sausage.
