Finishing 11-2 or 10-3 with a big win over a solid Penn State team would equal a successful season for me.
if we can't be in the MNC game, or in a BCS game, i would hope for a Cotton Bowl invite now that its going to be held at the Jerrydome. Plus it would be nice to get more kids out of that area to come to LSU.
I was thinking the same, LaSalle, and maybe partly because I'm old enough to remember when the Cotton Bowl WAS a major bowl. You know, back when there were only five or six bowl games of note? Seems to me it used to match SWC and SEC. I remember Texas A&M v Alabama. And btw, the Bear lost to the Aggies. I think it was like, 1968 or 1969. :geaux:
so what happens if LSU beats Bama, then goes on to beat UF in Atlanta, OU beats Texas and wins the rest of their games winning the big 12 with 2 losses, and Oregon wins the Pac-10. You have LSU as the SEC champs who would for sure be in the national championship game, then you have Florida, Alabama, Texas with 1 loss and no conference title. Then you would have Oregon and probably Virginia Tech with conference titles and 1 loss. Then Boise St. with possibly no losses, and maybe TCU, and Cincy maybe with no losses. What kind of cluster**** is that going to be at the end of the season. Oh and i forgot maybe a no loss Iowa, or 1 loss Ohio State as big 10 champs. This year has the makings of another year that makes the BCS look absolutely retarded.
LSU vs Boise State for the BCS CG is probably what you would have. Boise would be either #1 or #2 in all of the computer polls simply for the fact they would be the only team undefeated.
I'd be willing to give the Cotton Bowl another chance with the new stadium. Of the four bowl games I've been to, it was by far the worst. From 2001-2004 seasons (best to worst): Sugar Bowl 2004 - NC game, obviously; location, while playing into our favor for the game, could be better as a trip experience, but I'm from NOLA Capital One Bowl 2005 - best location of the 4, game was good until the end Sugar Bowl 2002 - good game, see 2004 Sugar Bowl for location Cotton Bowl 2003 - 1st half of the game was good, Cotton Bowl stadium itself is falling apart, hotel was somewhere in BFE
If Oregon keeps winning, it's gonna bump up Boise State's stock. It's a good thing there's still much football to be played. Both Florida and Bama seem somewhat more vulnerable this year... actually Bama appears to be slightly better on both sides of the ball. I think Tebow misses Harvin. I don't see both of them getting to the SEC Championship unscathed. I'm a big Hawkeye fan, but I'm not sure we have enough O to win out. Our schedule has us @Penn State, @Wisconsin, @ Michigan State and @ Ohio State. Yes, one down (PSU), but winning all four road games is a stretch. When it's all said and done, I think the Big Ten will only have one 1 loss team and get only one to the BCS bowls. What's interesting is Wisconsin. Should they beat the Hawkeyes today, they have a soft schedule the rest of the way and could easily go 11-1... and they're not even ranked. and that's the kind of year this is.
