I know it's a long time between now and NSD. That's what makes it so interesting. There's still a lot of intrigue out there. Here's my full class prediction - make yours. QB - Uzomah RB - Hilliard (C) RB - Hill (C) RB - McGee (C) WR - Landry (C) WR - Lewis (C) WR - K. Williams or unknown OL - Collins (C) OL - Turner (C) OL - White (C) OL - Robinson S - Martin (C) CB - Collins (C) CB - Jenkins (C) CB - Beckham LB - Randle (C) DL - A. Johnson (C) DL - Thomas (C) DL - M. Johnson DL - Rasco or Clowney or Jernigan P - Botts (C) Ath - Byrd (fadeaway jumper at the buzzer....)
QB Stephen Rivers QB Zach Oliver ??? (Don't think we take 2) RB Hilliard RB Hill RB Magee WR Landry WR Odell Beckham WR Paul Turner (ATH) ATH Alonzo Lewis (Could develop into an OLB or Safety) OL - Collins OL - Turner OL - White OL - Robinson CB Collins CB Jenkins S Martin S ???? (Maybe pick up another S or hybrid CB) LB Randle LB ???? DE Rasco DT Freak DT Mickey Johnson DT/DE Thomas P Botts Breakdown of Needs: QB: 1-2 -- Look for LSU to keep there eyes on committed prospects and unkowns that pop up throughout the season. May take an in-state guy as well and Dak could be an option as well. RB: 0 WR: 2 -- OBJ is one and Paul Turner was offered as a WR but could play either side of the ball. May take another because of this. OL: 1-2 -- Maybe a Center as well but not likely. I expect Greg Robinson in this class. DE: 1-2 -- Hopefully Rasco but if not we will take one. Don't think it will be Clowney but someone on our radar. Probably only 1 but 2 is possible if a surprise comes along. DT: 1 -- Mickey Johnson. Jernigan is in play but I expect him to end up elsewhere. LB: 1-2 -- Need at least one more and we are still evaluating a bunch of them right now. S: 1 -- TK Fleming would be my pick but murky after the DWI. Maybe the staff already knew of it at camp when he got encouraging news from the staff but maybe not. Raven could slide into this spot if offered. CB: 0 -- Collins and Jenkins are CB IMO but either could move to safety if needed but not likely. Turner could end up here as well. Sign and Place: WR D'haquille Williams to Gulf Coast Community College out of ESJ.
He is on the list above as an ATH. WR/DB/LB I think he could end up as an OLB later on in his career. Weight will determine. Looking good for OBJ based on what he has been saying lately and his dad is in our corner as well. I think the mystique of Miami will lose out to home in the end. Robinson is likely ours as well IMO. Mama in our corner big time as well. I see Rasco as where he was in the beginning of the process. We will be in it until the end but will be a battle.
If we take Landry, Turner, and OBJ, would we still have enough room to take Sylvie. I just can't see him leaving the state when signing day comes.
We will take him if he wants to jump on but we are not stopping the bus waiting on him. LSU is still recruiting him and he is still very interested. Turner is more of an ATH anyway who could play either side of the ball and I expect him to commit as an ATH. So is OBJ but he wants to be recruited strictly at WR and you can tell by our recruiting that we are doing just that. DBs are pretty much set except for possibly Turner and maybe Raven if offered.
I'm not sure Miami would take OBJ at this point. Perhaps they would but I wonder if they're recruiting him that hard. Seems like they have a ton of guys like him already committed. OBJ's stock really blew up in the Spring on forward. This class has a TON of athletes that can be positioned as hybrids. I think that is good and bad. Its going to be bad because I would not doubt seeing a bunch of attrition from this class with all the ATHs competing for similar positions. However, I think LSU will hit it huge, even with a big attrition rate from this class... Going to be interesting to see how they pan out.
As great as this class is stacking up and being hyped, it seems a little hollow if we don't land a solid QB. Still holding out hope for that! I have not been following it in too much detail this year, and am only familiar with the big name QBs that we seem to be missing out on. What is your impression of the ones you have listed above, or other under the radar possibilities out there, Bhelm?
Rivers is like his brother...unorthodox throwing motion and needs development in the immediate and deep passing game but could be a sleeper if it starts to click like it did with his brother. Maybe we take a chance on him and offer and word is he would jump on that offer. As I said above I expect LSU to keep contact with the committed prospects and one I really like is JW Walsh who committed to Okie St. Zach Oliver and Dak Prescott are the in-state guys who could get an offer. Just like Rivers they did not have great camp showings at LSU which is why we are hesitant. Both are committed elsewhere but an LSU offer could change that. Probably wait to see how they perform during their senior seasons. Other than that there are other committed prospects and Ely who hasn't decided yet who LSU will keep in touch with and we will be on the lookout for the sleepers that have great seasons this year. There is always 2 or 3 that come out of nowhere.
