Feel free to copy/paste or edit this one for your own, personal use: e-mail: [email protected] Mr. Slive, Assuming you did not delete this already per the subject title, I think you have some explaining and apologies to offer to the LSU, and SEC, fan base for the poor officiating crews you have been assigning to the SEC games for the past season. What are you going to do? You can stand criticism so you slap coaches with $30,000 fines and threats of suspension? I have never seen a grown man cower to negative criticism, especially when it is correct in every aspect. Grow up, Slive, be a man and face the music that you need to begin fixing the conference that holds respect across this nation as the most dominant and followed. You have fans that spend their hard earned money in a tough economic time, people who expect fairness and a level playing field for KIDS who spill their guts on fields for our enjoyment. Your officiating crews are the laughing stock of the nation and it is sickening for fans to watch you turn a cold shoulder to it. So, Mr. Slive, what are you going to do? Are you going to hide behind this reprimand threat you've stricken each coach in the SEC with? Are you truly going to send a message that you care more about your pathetic officiating crews than your own conference's coaches? You, sir, are nothing more than an instigator for censorship. If you cannot take the heat then do the conference a favor and resign because you aren't doing any favors by maintaining your position; you are degrading us every Saturday. It's your move, Mr. Slive. Are you going to stricken every fan now with a $30,000 fine? Are you going to cut off our television programming as a "suspension"? You may be able to silence the coaches but they have fans that will hammer you with the truth; step up to the pulpit and admit your errors. I assume you will merely send out an official SEC statement claiming you have "reviewed the replay of the game and fully support the work the officiating crew did on Saturday." Well, sir, it is hogwash, pure lies and you need to open up your eyes and face the music. In return, if I do not get a response I will assume you deleted this e-mail without fully reading it. Until I receive a proper response (not some obligatory, cookie-cutter response), I will call and re-send this e-mail daily. LSU fans have your e-mail and your office's telephone number (located in Alabama, ironically). Give us an answer or we will not back down. Sincerely, A Disgruntled Fan
I know it feels good to vent and I truly mean no disrespect, but it's laughable if you think a) Slive will even read this and b) in the off chance he does read it, it will enlighten him in some degree that he will make wholesale changes because of it. As good as the letter is, it still does not call into doubt the credibility of the league, comparing it to a WWE 'rasslin' match and how we're negatively we're viewed by the rest of the nation because of it. This is not a one game or one year problem, nor does it only happen TO us. There is a systemic issue of poor (or worse) officiating in the SEC and it's been going on for years. Sorry dude..
i think this letter has impact when the sec office receives thousands of them from irate fans from multiple sec schools. so, lsu_mackey, post this letter or a similar one on every sec school board (except bama and florida). if people bite, it could have an impact, esp if the media hears that thousands of complaints were sent in. just a thought.
good post ... Slive is the figurehead, .... but it's the university presidents that own a healthy measure of blame for these and many other problems. They've made it open-season on the golden-goose, ... and now, with that the spankin' new SEC television contract has the conference flush with cash, their collective greed is beginning to show. Slive is just the broom, but the university presidents are performing much of the sweeping. Unfortunately, I'm fear these "symptoms" are going to continue to become much worse before the "problem" will get resolved ... IMO, things will need to become bad-enough that fans from multiple SEC programs will be finally willing to band together in some form of visible protest. In the end, if we as loyal fans continue to spend tons of cash to support our programs, then there is little motivation for the presidents to change. Anyway you look at it, it's the players and fans that are getting screwed. :dis:
I respect your opinion, but do you really think he will ever see this? True...the calls have been really bad. But what kills me is the really bad decision to pentalize Fla. by suspending their guy for the first half for what could have blinded a guy. I would like to make some kind of statement to Slive too. But I promise you, he never reads stuff from you and me. Thought about writing my congressman to ask him if he would intervene asking for more moral responsibilty than this. Bad calls happen. Eye gouges should not. If left up to me, this Spikes would have played his last college game and would be under intense scrutinty if any pro team took him. What happens if he turns pro and gets beat in the super bowl? A drive-by shooting?
I just sent slive a email. I feel better already. Me and my 9 of my other 11 personalities in a rare moment of agreement will be sending emails, phoning, and faxing Slive at the SEC Commissioner's Office.
