I think the Saints have learned their lesson. They will wait till the 7th round to pick up a WR.:hihi:

The Saints need to shore up the defense. That is where they need to focus first.

Not bad, but I hope that the Saints would take Willis instead of Puz. Saints NEED a MLB in the worst way, and Willis is a beast.

Saints will take defensive guys in first four and maybe a a o-lineman, but I can't see them taking any WR early due to a decent depth chart at WR. I think Payton will see what happens with Free Agency for WR's. Great possibility of getting a young veteran. I think "Hollywood" Horn comes back for last year. He was very upset about not being able to play last few weeks when he thought he could. He also had signed 6-year extension in '05, so I think his ego (not a bad thing) wil force him to come back. I think Payton would be the only thing that holds him back.

Saints need CB's badly. The one's we have either suck horribly or gettting up there in age. 3 out of 5 CB's are in their 30's. If they miss the hit at the line, they can't catch up.

At Safety: Roman Harper will be back and he was great in the first 4 games and Bullocks will get better with time; he's young. I hated Stoutmire; he played with heart but just can't cut it.

DT's could use a promising young guy and hopefully our DE's will be "shored" up if Charles Grant doesn't get too greedy. I heard today he wants top 10 DE money.

Defense wins championships, look at the bears.

The free agent market for wide receiver is maybe the worst ever since FA started in the NFL.

Here you go, from most coveted on down:

    1 - Drew Bennett (maybe a #2 receiver, maybe)
2 - Kevin Curtis (probably resigns with St. Louis so maybe not available)
    3 - Patrick Crayton (a solid #3 receiver)
4 - Bobby Wade (up and coming and a solid kickoff return man)
    5 - DJ Hackett (a possible #3, solid #4 certainly)

There are others, but not worth mentioning. I think Wade is the best pickup here as Michael Lewis may not get resigned by Saints (getting up there in age). If that is the case, we get Wade who fills the exact void of replacing Lewis as both receiving option and kick returner. He caught for 461 yards, which is pretty substantial considering the Titans were a pretty horrible passing team.

Saints have to decide whether or not to sign Copper. I am not sure what they should do here. Copper showed flashes of being a reliable receiver at times, and then disappeared completely in other games. He definitely did not step up in the playoffs as I think he only had 3 catches total in the 2 games combined. Jamal Jones is not very good. Joe Horn may be dealt to another team if they will take his commanding salary. I don't see that happening, however. I have no idea if the Saints will try to renegotiate his contract. If they do, look for Horn to walk. Saints really need to extend Devery's contract now and not wait until after the 2007 season. Lock him up, he is the best deep threat in the entire NFL. Most teams would love to get their hands on him. It will be cheaper to lock him up now than to wait, I can assure you.

So lots of uncertainties in the Saints receiving corps. The Saints will undoubtedly draft a WR at some point. If someone falls into our lap unexpectedly, it could be as high as the 2nd round. I think it will more than likely be a 3rd rounder since we have 2 picks in that round.

I can't wait to see what Buster Davis does on the draft boards between now and April. He has the potential to move into the second round, especially if he runs well at the combine/workout. He's the epitome of a solid college WR that makes the transition. Good routes, good hands, and we will probably see, great speed. And a helluva blocker.

The Saints can't go wrong with Willis or the Poz. I think Willis has a higher ceiling as a player, but the Poz is a classic LB.

I almost hate to say it because I hate Bruschi so much and I like the Poz, but the comparison seems right. Damnit I hate Bruschi...gotta think of another comparison. How about London Fletcher? A little help, if any of you can think of a just-below-perrenial-All-Pro-but-occasional-all-pro MLB.

yea, that's the kind of player I'm thinking of (sans 'roid rage and Shannon Sharpe-level annoying interviews.)
