I was talking about the dbag bandwagon fans who wear the Sox crap after 2004 because ESPN was shoving all things Red Sox down everyone's throat. I've asked several Sox fans I know to name their 1-3 pitchers. They cannot do it. Boston itself is a baseball town and I'll cede that. It's Red Sox nation (this includes the ones that became fans after '04) that collectively are morons. Whatever team that is most popular among bandwagon fans will be in this position. Right now it's the Red Sox.
I can agree with that. There are a lot of Sox caps that came out of the woodworks around here. I got phucked with pretty hard for having my Boston hats before '04.
What about all those "Yankee fans" in Louisiana that have never even set foot inside Yankee Stadium, yet sport their Yankee caps and Yankee shirts, and all say "Boston sux" just because the Yankees have 26 World Series titles???? How many people across the country are Yankee fans but couldn't name anyone outside of Jeter, A-Rod and Roger???
And this is what wearing your Red Sox hat to Yankee Stadium got you... And I've been on that end of it....in '03 when my wife (then girlfriend) and I made the trip down to the Bronx with another couple for a Sox/Yankees' series.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=TwBa3XA3Sl4&mode=related&search=
I see your point, but I think I understand why they're here. Unless you have satellite, your pretty much forced to watch either the Braves (everyone catches TBS), or whoever ESPN is force feeding you. Having DirecTv has me watching teams I never thought I'd be a fan of. I enjoy watching Anaheim (I don't care if they call them selves L.A.), Seattle, sometimes Oakland, and any team with a former LSU player getting serious playing time. I still watch Boston more than any other even though most of the team I fell in love with has moved on to other teams now.
For me, I grew up watching the Cubs (WGNO) and Braves (TBS) and I idolized Wade Boggs when he was with the Red Sox...
When I was a kid, I still caught Cubs games here, and quite a few Mets games. Then in my teens, those 2 channels were no longer available here. I quit watching baseball after the strike, but did follow Cal Ripken's streak and Sammy and McGuire's chase. Then in '01 or '02 when I first signed up with DirecTV, they offered me the Extra Innings package for free when I signed up. That's when I started watching baseball again. Boston already had Damon, Varitek, Manny, Pedro, Nomah, Trot Nixon, etc. etc. etc. That combined with my hatred for the Yankees, made me a natural fit with the Red Sox.
Exact same thing for Yankees fans for the bulk of the 80's and early 90's. It was terrible, since they almost always had a decent but unspectacular team for years and years. Bandwagon fans are a-holes, regardless of the team. They're just worse when they're Sox fans. :hihi: At least for Yankee fans. Actually, the Lakers bandwagon fans are pretty horrible too. Sometimes a rare Sox player will crack my veil of hatred for them, and I'm never comfortable with it. Boggs did it, and now Manny. I think Manny's the least appreciated hitter of our generation, and a hilarious dude on top of that. That's it, that's the last nice thing I'm going to say about the Sox this year. I feel dirty already.
I won't hold it against you, NoLimit.... Every time I'm reminded you're a Yankee fan, I just tell myself you're "LSU first"... :thumb: ....and to make you feel better about yourself, I was a fan of Don Mattingly as well--wished he had played for someone else though!
I just had this arguement at work this week. Nobody seems to realize that in fewer career at bats (before this season started) he had better numbers almost across the board than A-Rod.
