More for the blotter Duck DT arrested for assault | CollegeFootballTalk.com As it turns out, Florida isn't the only football program hit with an arrest ahead of a huge conference showdown. Although, to be fair and perfectly blunt, this arrest won't have nearly the effect that Carlos Dunlap's could/should have on the Florida-Alabama match-up. According to the Eugene Register-Guard, junior defensive tackle Terrance Montgomery was arrested and jailed on an assault charge Monday. As of this afternoon, Montgomery was still jailed. Specifics of what led to Montgomery's arrest are not yet available. Head coach Chip Kelly told the paper that he was aware of the arrest, but would have no comment until he had gathered additional facts. Montgomery has played in seven games this season; there's a very good chance that he won't make it an even eight when the Ducks take on Oregon State Thursday in a Civil War clash that will decide the Pac-10's representative to the Rose Bowl.
This is the reason the money in sports needs to be removed. There's no reason anyone deserves to make the sort of money the pros make, for doing something we all did for free in our back yards as kids because of the love for the game. The rights of entitlement seem to be trickling down into the college ranks more and more, as their tunnel vision of future monies seems to constantly cloud their judgement.
I can't believe you would blow a good opportunity to play at a college for free and either get an education or promote yourself enough to play in the pros, depending on your goals. But instead, you lack the self control to avoid trouble with the police and get labeled as a troublemaker or a criminal. The pros will give him a chance, but if he doesn't change his ways, he'll screw that up too.
No he won't... how many strip club shootings did it take for Pacman to be removed from the league? How many times did RW fail drug tests to come back, promise changes only to be suspended again and again? Just like the player who killed a guy crossing the street with his Bentley, only to get 30 days, pay the family money and surrender his DL for life for vehicular homocide? All they do by putting these morons in the pros is give the rejects the resources to get out of trouble when they do something serious. If it were you or I or any other "regular" joe, we'd be doing heavy time for half the crap these guys get away with, simply because they can afford to buy themselves out of trouble.
Suspensions, tarnished reputation, constantly traded....that's what I meant by screwing up. Those are subjective qualities that only matter if you care about them, I know, but they matter to me.
If I could do whatever I wanted, and the only repercussions of my actions were suspensions, a tarnished reputation and constant trades... but I was still able to keep my job make millions every year... I could care less what others think about me... i'd still be rich and able to live my lucrative lifestyle. What a rough life it'd be. The only way to make these dumb a$$es learn from their mistakes is to hit them where it hurts, and im not talking insignificant fines that 1 game will pay off... remove them from the sport for good, for 1 act of bad judgement and I promise you eventually things will stop.
Well, that's a difference of opinion. Still, lack of discipline in occupation can carry over into personal life, and it is somewhat amusing to watch millionaires go broke
