Of those QB's I think Davey and Mett at their best stand out over the others at their best. Both were great leaders and passers. Both would take the shot in order to deliver the ball. Russell had nice numbers and could have truly been special. I was baffled that Kiper had him so high, that the NFL was considering him and ultimately taking him #1. I would not have taken him in the first round. He had all the talent, but made too many mistakes. I like what Ray Lewis was saying about JJ Watt and what made him so great. In a nutshell, Lewis said that Watt puts in all the extra time to prepare. Come gameday, he gives his all on each and every play. Maximizing his talents just like he did. Had Russell done that, who knows what he could have become. I agree with islstl that Perrilloux did not have enough reps to compare him to the others. He too could have been special.
Herb Tyler is an under-appreciated quarterback because he was on some losing teams. But he actually did the job quite well.
Then leave him out if you wish. Russell still came out on top as far as quarterbacks in the last 20 years.
Agreed, definitely under-appreciated and under-ratted. Herb played with Nicky Savoie, a guy I went to high school with. He was in the class after mines.
I like Wilson , he is a qb who can run not a running qb. Much like Andrew Luck but luck is ahead in the passing dept. Wilson had one of the best defenses ever when he won that superbowl.
But to answer the question I'd rather a drop back style qb every time over a wr playing the qb position. It's cute but the whole offense runs through their legs.
