Whats the scoop on Joshua Downs- DT 6-2 270 Bastrop. Did he committ to LSU today or did he jump the gun with no spot available. Is he a top tier recruit or a fallback guy? To early to be taking fallback guys isn't it?? Seems there are lots of other guys I was hearing about on here - Davenport, McFarland, McAllister, Sentimore... Whats going on??

Downs was one of our first commits, and is far from a fallback option.

I expect him to play center at LSU & be pretty dang good one at that.

Darn.... I am sorry for jumping before I checked.... Downs indeed was a much earlier committ... Mud on my face.... Ingnore me... I'm sure most do already... So did we get two today or just the one? Jackson & Ferrell or just Ferrell? Thanks Parso for trying to keep me under control..

I hope this kid gets to play DT. Because he will be an awesome one.

From those who actually got to see him play this past weekend, it's the proverbial "motor doesn't stop", and in this case, it's very evident.

He seems to be in the mold of a Chad Lavalais ("shorter" DT). Just all over the field, creating headaches for offensive coordinators.

    We shall see.

I am guaranteeing he will get his 4th star when all is said and done.

I too thought like CParso that he would be a hell of a center but after seeing that game he looks so explosive off the ball and would be a very good DT at the college level. Either position he will be a good one!

    Re: Joshua Downs

rated the #2 run stuffer in the nation (rated higher than McFarland, Davenport or Campbell), which of course has people perplexed at how a DT with those kinds of credentials is not a strong 4 star, much less any kind of 4 star

Rivals.com will get it right in the end and I think he will be no worse than a mid-level 4 star prospect....that 3 star rating he has now is an abomination (rated as 5.7, should end up 5.9). He is currently ranked #38 in DTs, I think he will end up in the top 15.

Agree. I think he should definitely play DT after watching him last night and will become a high 4star.This potential class of DLine maybe the best in LSU History IMO.
