Your right, if Lsu had won then les would have made an additional 5 million on his contract. At least that's what I've heard. So then if he loses he should at least owe the fan base a good explanation
Faulty logic, though. He lost 5 million dollars--he would then owe nothing more. All of us are acting like this loss happened to us--just think about the dude who lost $5 million. Who's unhappier?
Not being on the short end of a NC score doesn't require any great analysis from me. But this wasn't the same Alabama team in approach or strategy. The earlier loss guaranteed that. I have to concur with some here that the same may be true for LSU, but in more unfortunate circumstance. First, Bama got rest and was healthier and looked a lot more like the team that physically mauled Arkansas and Florida in the swamp in back to back weeks. As much as I believe that was a blessing for us, not sure how a young LSU team on a roll, with incredible depth, would meaningfully spend their time. A gap was closed. I mention your depth, talent and time, because I just don't think this happens anywhere to this degree if we played LSU in the SEC game. This Tiger team doesn't put me in mind of a bunch that needs to sit around and consider all the possibilities, especially as the hunted. Hard for any coach to read all this change of circumstances and always doing what's best, based on the maturity of that particular team and then account for a boat load of distractions going on away from the practice field. Maturity and rest definitely helped Bama's cause in the rematch, along with a different "passing" mindset. Plus, the fact that 50 of our players remember this NC experience just 2 years ago didn't hurt. In a year where there wasn't a lot to choose between the two, I think Bama first won the elongated wait and then the game.
Yep. We layed a fat smelly egg but Bama was ready and 21-0 is what happens when you don't show up ready to play an outstanding and motivated opponent. Beating Bama twice was too tall of a task.
LOL Les gave you as a Bama fan a gift . JJ there is more than meets the eye , I have watched the game 4 times , Miles did not coach , his hat was empty his players knew it , and you know it . maybe he was tired of people wanting JJ so he gave those LSU fans JJ . The pros got to see the real JJ .
I don't know if it was a gift, more than it was the Tide just prepared to dominate a shyte offense. It's almost like instead of coming up with something innovative like the Tide did on offense (for them at least) all our offensive staff did was watch Palmer and Pollock for a month and decide to do what they said would work.
JJ and Mile's mental fertility is not what I exclusively took from LSU's offensive futility. Ware, Hilliard, Blue and Ford has pretty much represented a relentless rushing attack from Hades, for every opponent, all season long. You may shut down an option with JJ at the controls but hardly that bunch. Just seemed more mindset then imagination. If the O-line is grinding away and the backs are plowing rel-estate as usual, the option and forward pass would have been much more optional and a lot more effective.
I kind of wonder if a Ware-Ford option attack would have worked well. That said, what we saw 2 nights ago was a combination of hubris, lack of experience, and poor gameplanning
