We won't know the answer to that until LSU is in the hole by 2-3 scores during a game. If our D is good enough to keep that from happening, and our special teams give us short fields, then we can win games with a mediocre offense.

LSU is doing a couple of things on offense that we saw little of last year. With the exception of Kentucky, Lee has been throwing well enough to make defenses pay with play action when they stack the box. Second, when LSU gets to the red zone, they've actually been scoring TDs instead of settling for FG's.

Dropsies are part QB part WR. In Crowtin's offense, we relied a lot on timing between the QB and WR with lots of slip screens, etc... Much like the timing with WVA's offense. Our QB's, a lot of times, in that offense would throw behind the WR or high and I think that led to a lot of drops. In this Studthorpe offense, I see the WR's being more to blame. I think concentration, or lack thereof, on the WR's is to blame this year, for the most part. Lots of catchable balls are being dropped.

Well, that's probably a question for bhelm.

#1 He was covered by being an athlete on scholarship and LSU picked up the tab.

    Or

#2 A lasik certified surgeon in Baton Rouge made him an offer he couldn't refuse. :D

If it's the latter, I hope the statute of limitations has expired.

well no the receivers were open and he needed to hit them between the numbers

and Shepard is only 6'1", and he got 3 thrown too high, and managed to pull down 1 of them remarkably

One pass went straight through sheps two hands. Shep had more than two drops. There is no way that every one of his drops were too high. That one pass was shown in slow motion and passed directly through his hands. It would have been a twenty or so yard strike. Instead we punted. Shep should be used like sproles is now or bush used to be used by the saints. He hasn't been very good at catching longer passes. Shep may catch one in four balls that hit him in the hands and one in six that he will have to jump to get. Everytime the ball is thrown his way I tense because I don't have faith in him anymore. Now odb is another story. Shep ran the sweep and picked up good yardage. Why not put him in the backfield and pitch him the ball and let him run off tackle? Middle screens to him would work and bubble screens would also. Let him be a short dump off guy for lee to check down to. Run the option with him and jj. There are many ways to use his speed without him having to catch a fifteen yard crossing route.

That hitting on the numbers went out a long time ago. The best receivers use their hands and catch the ball away from their body so it doesn't bounce off of the pads.

What he lacks in height he makes up for in his vetical- check it.

That said, Shep can't catch a cold. He's missed them anywhere they're thrown. They kept going back to him I noticed. Trying to get him over the hump, I guess.

I think I mentioned we DO NOT have those type of receivers.

They need the ball thrown to them better than what Lee is feeding them. Unfortunately.

Or fire this phuckwad Gonzales joker.

    Something.

Calling on bhelm. Can you find or put together another youtube video of only the plays were Lee threw the ball like you did for the Oregon game?

To borrow a phrase from Red. Sleau down Hoss.

Last time I checked we're 5 & 0 and ranked #2 in the Coaches poll.

Can JL throw a better ball? I suspect not. As long as we're racking up the W's I can live with a few high balls.

Speaking of high balls, I'll have another one. :D
