We agree on a lot of things but I have an irrational dislike for Obama and MM has an irrational dislike for Bush and we will never see eye to eye on that issue.

More red tape and BS.... One can't help but notice that this comes a day after the moratorium is blocked. Some coincidence...

Federal officials halt sand dredging to create Gulf of Mexico oil spill barrier | NOLA.com

How many times now is this that progress is being held up by the feds because they're concerned about "environmental impact"? I call BS... I think the administration is pissed off that their little moratorium got blocked so the Dept. of the Interior (Salazar) blocked the dredging. This is just ridiculous, after all the time it took to get "approved" to build this thing.

Of course that is what it is. If they were so concerned with safety and the environment, and gave a damn about this region and its economy they would have already inspected the rigs. It is a flexing of the nuts by the administration.

It's not true. My post was poorly worded. Let's try again.

Feldman (who made the ruling that lifted the injunction) did own Transocean stock in 2008. His stock portfolio does have investments on several energy and petroleum companies.

The 5th Circuit is who the Obama Administration appealed to and they will make the decision.

Now, with that out of the way: I know that many will make issue of Feldman (or any other judge) owning stock with any energy-related business. That's just stupid. Anyone with a lick of sense that invests is going to have some of their funds tied up in Petrol. That probably goes double for judges that live in South LA. Are we going to insist that judges no longer invest for fear that they might own stock in a business or industry that they one day might have to make a ruling on?

Any argument that his opinion is biased because of his stock earnings simply wants to avoid discourse as to why the Obama Administration's actions to implement the moratorium was illegal to begin with. His opinion is very clear and supported by previous opinions. It's exactly why Salazar is drafting another moratorium; He knows that the current one wont stand up to judicial scrutiny.

Either way, we're not in the clear until this thing is finalized. No company is going to move a muscle until they see the duct settle.

Don't worry...the administration said the Gulf will be better when it's all over than before it began. :thumb:

(I guess we'll need to decipher what "better" means.)
