Wash. St QB Connor Halliday breaks Drew's 15 year D1/FBS record of 83 pass attempts in one game. Halliday was 58-89 for 557 yards and 4 TDs in a 62-38 losing effort to Oregon. That's an insane amount of passes. One side note to this is that Oregon DC Nick Aliotti called Mike Leach 'classless' for continuing to throw the ball. "That's total (B.S.) that he threw the ball at the end of the game like he did,'' Aliotti said, referring to Leach. "And you can print that and you can send it to him, and he can comment, too. I think it's low class and it's (B.S.) to throw the ball when the game is completely over against our kids that are basically our scout team.'' My first thought thought is that he's kind of a hypocrite, given the way Oregon runs up the score on other teams. My second thought is - what's he supposed to do? Give up? Not even try? Maybe I'm just not seeing what Aliotti is so pissed about. @GiantDuckFan , care to weigh in?
Hello, Fanatic dude,.. Oregon doesn't run up the score, we win big. The great majority of the Duck's 2nd half points this year were scored by our #2's and 3's. Twice this year the Ducks have taken a knee inside the 5 to end the game. This media hub bub? Well, personally, I like to watch teams run plays and compete. As you say,.. what's he supposed to do? Give up? Not even try? I'm with you on that, there's nothing fun about watching coaches run out the clock. At the start of the 4th, Oregon was ahead 55-24, wazzu then threw the ball 28 times in order to set a NCAA record. I don't care that Leach left his starters in just to pad the stats, I don't care..... This flap started because Nick Aliotti thinks Mike Leach is a great big asshole,.. which we all know is true. So there's really no controversy.
Never heard a team losing and trying to make the score respectable called padding stats. Only the team leading can do so. The other team is still trying to win. Your coach is retarded even if it's true.
