The Saints and Drew Brees became the first team in NFL history to beat 5 Super Bowl winning QBs in one year (including the playoffs).

Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning.

The Saints outscored those teams by a combined total of 193-103 (38.6-20.6).

    The scores were:

    48-27, 38-17, 45-14, 31-28, 31-17

The combined stats for Drew Brees in those 5 games were (you need to sit down for this one):

    113 completions
    155 attempts
    72.9% completion pct.
    1472 yards
    9.5 ypa
    17 touchdowns
    0 interceptions
    139.0 rating

Drew Brees had arguably the greatest season from beginning to end (Super Bowl MVP) ever in the history of the NFL. Steve Young in 1994 could be argued as well.

So is this the single best season a QB has ever had?

i dont know. pretty hard to judge it.

did I really read Brees had a 70+ % in the regular season? Never heard that in the pregame hype.

I think its crazy how he threw for over 5000 yards last year and not one receiver went over 1000. I think Moore had 900 something yet hardly played a role this year.

And this year, Marques was the only one to get over 1000 and not by much.

His favorite target is the open man.

This team wins as a team and everyone bought in to what Sean Payton was trying to do (especially offensively). Anyone with an ego would not have survived in Payton's grand scheme.

The combined stats of Eli, Brady, Warner, Favre and Peyton in those games: they completed 111 of 184 (60.3%) attemots for 1263 yards, 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions for a collective QB rating of 70.539.

Impressive job by Gregg Williams' defense...

Actually, we weren't the first to do this. One of Buffalo's SuperBowl teams did it as well. Of course, they didnt' cap it with a |lombardi|. Nor did they have a run of 3 future HoF'ers in consecutive games like we did.

I looked at the list they put up for Buffalo, they had Aikman as one of the 5 QBs. So unless they beat Dallas in the regular season that year, that would only be 4.

But yes, I was supposed to put that we were the first Super Bowl winning team to do it.

The Bills beat Montana, Hostetler, Rypien, Simms and Aikman (in the regular season).

Not exactly the greatest lists of QBs.
