This is why I love recruiting!

Luther Davis comes out & says that he doesn't like Saban and that he didn't want to take a visit to Bama. Many reports out of Bama are saying that he's on campus right now, and according to them, it has been confirmed.

Earlier today when the rumors were starting to circulate, Sonny (at Tigerrag) texted Luther. Luther said no way was he in Bama, he was attending his uncle's funeral. The rumors continued though. Sonny talked to Luther's brother later & he said that he is indeed in Alabama...

Miles' policy is that you do not take visits after you commit. Will Luther get his scholarship offer pulled (if the rumors are true)? What about McCoy, he's on an official visit to WVU this weekend...?

Well, I couldnt wait. I called and said "I hear you are trying to steal some of our recruits" with a chuckle. He says "you know it" and then tells me both Blackwell and Davis are in Tusc as we speak and they rode up together. He also told me to read the article on al.com from the Hunstville times about Joe McKnight. Its here:

    http://www.al.com/sports/huntsvilletimes/index.ssf?/base/sports/1169288324262680.xml&coll=1

Here is part of the article:

Quite frankly I dont like hearing that these kids are making visits after committing especially with Miles policy. Another thing we are probably putting too much in is the negatives about Saban. I think this is, for the most part, a figment of our imagination/hope. Everything I've read so far from prospects says the opposite and Joe Mcknight probably mirrors what other prospects think. There is also the possibility that home state presurre is causing some of these kids to say one thing and think/do another.

Take it for what its worth but this blow hard I work with usually knows his stuff. *shrugs*

As a Bama fan let me play devil's advocate for you. Who knows what these 17-18 year old kids are thinking or basing their decisions off of. I think at times we may give them too much credit as to what they are using to base their decisions from. As fans (from both Bama and LSU) we "assume" it is facilities, best chance to play, best chance to win etc.

But when it all boils down to it you've got a 17-18 year old KID making a decision. That in and of itself shouldn't give ANY confidence to Bama or LSU.

Also with the "negative" about Saban. I think Bama fans are going to one extreme and saying ZERO effects will be felt and LSU is going to the other and saying he'll tank in the recruiting department among blue chippers, and especially those from Louisiana.

I think the answer is in the middle. You'll find some recruits that are turned off and simply say "No thanks dude" but then you'll have some that don't view Saban's situation in the same light as many LSU fans. You also have to consider that many of these recruits aren't choir boys themselves so what Saban "did" is absolutely nothing to them, considering the environment many come from.

He wasn't texting during the funeral, I don't think. He just said in the text that he had his uncle's funeral to go to today.
