Anybody seen a better play by an interior lineman lately, than Nevis's forced fumble late in the game? Heard an NFL coach say one time, that there's nothing more valuable in football that being able to rush the passer in the fourth quarter. Brilliant play!
Yes, his play all day was strong, but that was the show-piece. 11 made a nice recovery following that fumble!
If this kid doesn't get All-America awards, its a damn shame. That swim move he put on the center for the sack/fumble was ridiculous.
Gotta be impressed by Nevis, no matter who you are. He makes so many plays in the backfield. Fanin is the only one I've seen who has played better.
I don't want to be guilty of over-hyping the guy, but I'm trying to come up with another name, of a guy who is blowing up the middle the way Nevis is. Not that I'm a football junkie, but I can't come up with anybody. It's very unusual to see an interior guy doing what he's doing this year. And if you think about it, Nevis is built very much like Ndamukong Suh. Great speed and quickness for a tackle.
They put up his sacks, TFL and tackles(?-not 100% on this one) through 8 games. Nevis 2010 vs. Dorsey 2007, and Nevis was better in all three catagories. I can't imagine he's not still ahead or at least real close after 9 games in comparison. It's a shame we'll lose him after this year. He is magnificent and the heart of our defense.
