The LSU coaching staff has played their cards right with John Ehret defensive tackle Drake Nevis throughout the recruiting process and their determination paid off this weekend as Nevis gave his verbal commitment to Les Miles and the Tiger program.

Great weekend for LSU football! Two excellent recruits. I wonder how Nevis will do at DT in college? He is a bit short for SEC level, then again so was Lavalais and Williams.

Does anyone know the number of scholarships LSU has available this year? We are at 19 right now and entering the the hot sport in the recuiting wars. With McKnight, Toliver, Jones, and Davis all being possible commits. As well as players like Barksdale, Scott, and a few other known names holding LSU in high regards. I wonder how the coaches will handle the rest of the recruiting season? Should be interesting.

I projected between 26 and 30 (low and high).

    22 seniors, 2 juniors leaving (Dorsey/Russell), 2 transfers, 2 leave program

Coach O is crying. You know it has to eat at him when we take recruits like that so easily. All we have to do is offer:hihi:

Yep, Nevis is like a blue chipper to them. That one hurts big time.

Which to commits from last year are signing with this class? And which current recruits are expected to sign with the 2008 class?

Yep, that figures into it to, so 30 is easily attainable (altho it could work in reverse just as easily and lower our total).

Anybody know how many that number is (2006 class counting towards 2007 class)? Of course we have the same ability to sign some of these kids from this year's class to the 2008 class.

Im sure the coaching staff will now hold out for only the elite players left, which is pretty much all they are wanting right now. I wonder why the coaches went after 3 TE when LSU has a few talented, young TEs? I really do like Hammond, who can play DE as well and Joseph. Who will be a beast at blocking.

I wonder how many, if any will change their minds and go elsewhere? It usually happens that at least 1-3 dont sign at the last second. I dont feel thats right, to me a commitment should mean a singing because the coaches are expecting you to be there, that means they now have to change their recruiting procedure and gameplan. At least IMO its not fair.
