I've said this before, and it bears repeating. Les is basically the George W. Bush of college football when it comes to dealing with the media. As such, media members are already inclined to think he's an idiot before the first word comes out of his mouth. And what he does say doesn't help him.
I actually have a lot of respect for Skip as he's been a long time reporter and mans up to his word. He actually gets the players he criticizes on the show and grills them directly. He just doesn't know anything about college football, so I take whatever he says regarding it with a grain of salt.
Agreed. Those who are commenting on this - and I've yet to read a positive spin - are leaving out the fact that Les said his discipline is not yet complete. I still think the right thing to do is suspend him for 3 games, and that may still happen. Even if its only one game, fine, but he has to miss some game time. Problem is, the storyline is already in play; if Les does suspend him, the talking heads will say that he's reacting to the bad press he got for "leaving the decision to the players."
He doesn't know a lot about a lot of sports, but its true that he will ask people the hard questions.

Whenever I hear someone say "must have been" or "should have been" or "had to have been" my bullshit meter goes past the red line. What "credible" sources has Herbstreit cited? Spell out what you are trying to suggest here. Why would Les lie to a reporter when all he has to do is say nothing? Why would he leave a potential championship team, SEC status, and a pile of talented players for Michigan's rebuilding job?
I honestly don't think that he cares, and I really don't blame him. He takes enough shit from his own fanbase, so I doubt he's going to bend over backwards to seek the approval of every other jackoff with a computer from outside the fanbase. And really, what incentive does he have to do so? Frankly, I like it when tells the rest of society to kiss his ass.
Sorry but skip is retarded. Well, only if he believes half the shit he says. Id like to believe he does it for ratings but he really seems to genuinely belive himself and that is sad. He is from Okc where I currently live and he has become a laughing stock.
His monetary success, ratings ultimately depend on his abilities thus to entertain the sports affectionados community.
