Davis and Blackwell are going absolutely nowhere. I repeat, Davis and Blackwell are LSU all the way. That puts the final tally at 28, which is about where I thought we would be on the high end. Given the problems with a couple of guys not making the grade, this should be the number we hit. Cparso, I await your highly valued response.
According to rivals, FSU has had a full court press on Jones. His dad loved the visit from ole Bobby Bowden. And Jones is quoted as saying: "As long as they keep doing what they are doing and as long as it doesn't die off, it's looking real good for them." I don't know what other way to read into that statement. FSU wants his services and will not drop the ball. FSU is the king of signing day. And Jones has already stated he isn't declaring until signing day. That's an awful tough combo to combat. It is what it is. The big thing going in favor of LSU is that he can be an instant starter as a true freshman, much like LaRon was. We shall see.
Noel Devine - don't see him coming here. If we do not get McKnight, maybe something could happen here, but he's going JUCO. Joe McKnight - 50/50 between us & USC. Fans & insiders from both teams have reason to think he goes to their school. Personally, I think his relationship with his coach & family will be enough to keep him here. Dez Bryant - no idea, but it won't be LSU. The coaches aren't near as high on him as the fans on these message boards. Rashad Mason - probably not Michigan. UNC or Ole Miss I think. If something happens with Toliver, he's a possability with us, but otherwise I just don't see it. Deonte Thompson - Miami or Florida. Most think Miami. Toliver - all LSU's. Sykes - don't know. Jason Peters - whispers are that he has secretly commited to LSU & it may be a greyshirt offer. If that is not the case, Georgia Tech is my guess. Heyward - I'm going to guess Georgia, just because they are the hometown team. If something happens with Blackwell or Davis (which I'm not really expecting), then maybe something would happen with LSU, but otherwise I don't see it. Francois - LSU. Scott committing first is the only thing that could mess that up, and even then I think we get him. Scott - I'm guessing Texas. I think it will be LSU if it isn't Texas, but UT will be tough to overcome. We're trying our best though. Chad Jones is LSU's according to the insiders, but Jimbo at FSU does present a new challenge.
Islstl, Dude, you are a stud with BCS numbers. Stick to that. Your formatting on that last email gave me a headache. Good info though. Although you are the first I've heard indicating we don't get Jones. I hope you're wrong. However, this begs another question, assuming we get two out of three from jones, mcknight, and tolliver, who do we hope for?????
I have never figured out how to format spacing in this forum. Maybe someone has ideas on how to do it. That's why I use dots to space it out. It looks fine on my end, a little squiggly, but fine otherwise. Definitely readable.
Pretty good predictions, though I disagree with C. Jones, despite his statements about FSU. Most recruits leave their official visits full of praise. I think we still get this kid. But I just can't get a feel for McKnight, though we can certainly hope that the desire to watch his little brother play will be strong enough to keep him here. The new OC should help us as well, since I consider Crowton to be more innovative than Fisher. I don't think the family really wants him to go to USC but the trojans sure are a hard draw to beat. Regardless, it seems to be leaning towards a phenomenal recruiting class. Add that to a more experienced OLine and the class we had last year?? '07 could honestly be our year...
maybe it's the width of my screen. Half of the lines go onto the next line. No big deal, just bustin your balls.
Those are the 2 things I based my prediction about McKnight on. The USC OC going to the Raiders would have helped us tremendously, but of course we all know what happened there.
