Because the republicans have moved so far from center. Being a moderate doesn't mean splitting issues equally between parties, don't be naive. I'm right of center on gun control, defense, foreign policy, and some spending issues, but the republicans have moved further away from me rather than move towards me. Plus, the only thing that Jindal said that ever made sense is that Republicans have to stop being stupid. They are the party that denies science. They promote creationism, denigrate evolution, scoff at climate change, cut research funding and they are anti-enviromental science. They were not always like this. Perhaps they will wake up some day.
