I was listening to WWL and Doug Moreau's comments after the Bama game. If I remember correctly he said that it is now time to look toward next season, start playing younger guys and begin to experiment to see what might work better. It sure sounded like he wrote the year off as a disappointment. For you younger guys, Moreau was an end in the mid 60's and voted co-MVP of the '65 team.

Now, this is my question. If the football experts here don't agree with Doug does he have a right to his opinion or does he get called a Poser and lose his credibility points? :eek:ldskule:

What's wrong with what he said. He didn't say to not try to win the remaining games, but to look ahead to a MNC run next year. I agree. I'd rather go 2-1 over the last three games and get a step up for next year versus going 3-0 and not making any preparation at all for next year.

He can say whatever he wants to say. I disagree with his analysis though. The season is far from over, we have alot of football to play. We can finish in the top 5, why begin an experiment now?

people and agree and disagree. as long as ol doug isnt really a bama troll, or an idiot that does nothing but stir up trouble, then people that disagree will do so respectfully.

and the difference between doug and "other(s)" is that doug had credibility to begin with.

True but it's not really experimenting with our talent. I was surprised to see the PT of some of our guys against bama. RJ Jackson, Brandon Taylor, Stephen Ridley all had a lot of PT. Ridley was more because of injury but we have a couple other backs that could have come in.

i would agree with doug if we had 3 or 4 losses, not two.

still have a chance for a top 5/11 win season.

if you can have 11 wins in an off year, you don't start experimenting just yet. if we have 20 point leads over ole miss or arky maybe. tech would be a great time to get some younger players some work (the non redshrts of course).

edit: btw if jefferson can go this weekemd, i say let him get a series or two before letting lee play the rest of the game against tech. and i'm no jarrett lee promoter.

I agree wholeheartedly with that. Not because I think Lee is the future of this team, but the time may come again when he will be called on to win a game. I believe Lee would have performed better against Bama, had he had more recent actual game playing time. What would have been so wrong with letting him play against Auburn once they were up 24-0 in the 3rd quarter and the entire second half against Tulane?

I would disagree with Doug for one reason only. Having the best possible ranking this year positively affects our pre-season ranking next fall. That doesn't mean much if you lose early games but makes it so much easier to reach the MNC if you don't. See Texas. Where would that team be if they started at, say 11-13 like LSU this year?
IMO what this team needs is a new OC just as it did with the DC situation last year. If LM is contemplating a change it would be a waste of time to let Crowton experiment with an offense that won't be his in 2010. :eek:ldskule:

I think we have already prepared guys for next year.

Tons of young guys are getting PT.

2-1 over 3-0 for some freshman WHO ALREADY PLAY?

    Dumb post IMO.
