It looks like the emergence of Jones and Haydel may be what the doctor ordered! That may be the key in post season play, not only in beefing up the pitching staff, but also in pushing the relief pitching staff to step up their performance. Any health issues with the pitching staff at this point?

The way Haydel struck out the last inning really looked impressive. Both Jones and Haydel seem quite effective in their short relief roles. I wonder why it took Manieri so long to use him? Is it because of the inconsistency of the relief pitching that made him start scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with these diamonds in the rough? Jone's poise under pressure is already a known quantity; wonder about Haydel's.

I was keeping up with Terrebone's play by play last night. When I saw his postings on what Haydel was doing I actually said "hell yeah" out loud.

Buzzy just got some mop up duty. It was not the same as bringing in a relief pitcher at a critical juncture. He's not going to be a 'go to' relief pitcher.

And Jones so far has come in at a very specific juncture, to get a few left handed batters out. Before he gets extended relief duties, he'll need to prove himself (perhaps against someone like Centenary this week).
