According to espn.com Dorsey is staying partially due to a leg injury that he played with during the Suger Bowl that will not require surgery. He is unsure if he will be ready for spring practice.
I'm sorry for posting this here under recruiting, but I got excited. I see it under the regular forum.
great news!! I'm guessing this probably means that our two latest DT commits, Barksdale and Blackwell, will probably be redshirted along with maybe Nevis.
Leads to a good question, who will we redshirt at D-line this year? Are there any players that might back out now that Dorsey is coming back?
I don't think it will change who we redshirt. Even without Dorsey I don't think we needed any of our recruits to play next year. There are at least 2 guys waiting there turn to play behind Dorsey. Al Woods would have stepped in the rotation seemlessly. I don't think we redshirt them all, even though I truly believe we could. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that we play one and redshirt the others. Of course some recruits do not want to redshirt and I guess this is a consideration. I don't know how accomodative the coaches are about this. Who do you think will play or redshirt? I think Barksdale will only because he has the most size, but that isn't everything.
I'm actually a little worried about Barksdale with this. I don't know if you guys followed his recruiting but he changed from Michigan to Texas to Notre Dame to Ohio St to finally us. I hope he doesnt de-commit and go to one of those schools because of our depth. At the same time, we are known as D-Line U so that should be a huge incentive for him. And he'll get his PT eventually.
Barksdale was supposed to be signing up for classes. If thats the case then he wont be able to leave. If not, Im pretty confident with Barksdale staying.
