It's perspective. The students at LSU can't remember when LSU was ever anything but a national champion contender. They think 9 wins is a disaster of epic proportions.

They get smarter as they age . . . at least most of them do.

I am a bit confused by those that think Miles had horrible clock management in this game, as it appears the people paid to analyze games seem to disagree. Not that they are experts or anything, because we know that some fans have way more knowledge and expertise in what is the best and what isn't.

LSU Tigers vs. Florida Gators - Recap - October 09, 2010 - ESPN

For those that might be thinking that Miles allowing the clock to run down prior to the fake fg is an example of clock mismanagement, you would be wrong. It was by design to give the impression that we really were going to try a 53 yd fg.

I certainly won't say that I know more than some on here, because as pointed out I am a "Fan Boy" who is blinded by my P & G glasses.
Even though I do recognize that Miles has his faults, and that this game was far from perfect. What it do show, however, was some serious improvement over the previous 5 games, and that is what I am looking for. At 6-0 I have to say I agree with the decisions Miles' is making, may be not all of them, but certainly enough to agree with the Tigers record of 6-0.

see it's really easy to say that because it's hard to remember some of the things Saban did at times. But go back and watch those games. He made some boneheaded moves also. Hell, he has a heisman trophy winning tailback and a guy who is probably better than Ingram and he ran both of them a grand total of 17 times against a banged up South Carolina defense. See when you look at Saban, all you see is his accomplishments, you don't see his screw ups, and I will tell you this. Les Miles never lost to UAB, or ULM. Saban yelled, and I think that and the trophies are the only things people remember about that dickhead.

And LSU wins in spite of Miles? Anyone remember the Bluegrass Miracle? Saban should have lost to a very bad Kentucky team.

Iowa? Great defense there at the end. Do you think the negatigers would overlook that if it happened against Miles?

I can remember watching LSU corners get torched on more than one occasion and yelling, "this guy is a defensive backs specialist???"

Saban comes across in interviews as disciplined and smart, which he is, so people look for things to validate their beliefs.

Miles comes across as bumbling and clueless and people validate those beliefs as well.

I've given up trying to figure this guy out. I have many questions about his coaching decisions but the guy's record speaks for itself.

That's never been my impression. I think he chooses his words carefully and pauses a lot, but he doesn't come across as unintelligent.

How many times did a Saban defense get burned by a back slipping out of the backfield late right down the middle?

That Florida loss to Zook and the back slipping out free still haunts my nightmares.

    Not unintelligent. Just inarticulate.

“I don't know that you block things out in the scope of the magnitude of loss here" -- Les Miles

Reminds me of Charlie Mac sometimes.

"Fellas, we're going to go over there to Georgia and play behind the bushes." --Charles McClendon.

    Hey coach, it's "Between the hedges . . . ". Never mind.
