Apparently, Stew is our only friend among national media types: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2003/writers/stewart_mandel/11/23/mandel.weekend/index.html
eric d's thread on Brad Edwards is why ... ESPN is talking USC Too many damned Computer polls hurting LSU Tennessee has to lose ........they opened -10 vs Kentucky FLA has to win .....................they opened as a PICK with FSU It's AP/ESPN #2 for LSU ... and we're +65/+66 points behind USC. Reality ain't bad ... a Fiesta Bowl against Texas (our best opp) Why would Texas be our best Fiesta opponent? 1. LSU gets another shot at Texas ... and revenge 2. LSU reaps the Recruiting Rewards 3. LSU shows THE MEDIA the program is a true powerhouse. Lotsa work to be done in Texas ... Captain Redlegs Terrell from the Outlaw Josey Wales And, hey, if the Sugar Bowl BCS miracle happens for LSU ... we'll dance on Bourbon Street ... BEFORE & AFTER the game.
I'm sorry Ramah, but I never did buy that we HAVE to be in 2nd in the two national polls to have a chance. LSU is making up ground in the computers for the most part, and LSU's SOS now is projected to be 10 spots ahead of USC by season's end. Their is a great chance if our SOS increases that much, we could pass USC in the computers. If (hypothetically) LSU passes USC in every computer, or even all but one, LSU can have the advantage with either a QW from Georgia, or even just our lead in SOS.
It's all over...This sux that we can't be #2... Don't you people remember that we're idiots for not beliving that we wouldn't lose points to USC in the polls last night? Ramah probably doesn't even remember...He was too busy figuring out what the vig would be on what he already owed the bookie...
If we win out, I see us easily taking over number the 2 spot in probably 6 of the computer polls. That dam NYT's ranking is the most horrible algorithm evar.
I'm not big on predictions but I have been having this feeling that USC is going to lose to the Beavers. Trojans have been on a roll but they are due for a bad game. I'm not even sure what's at stake for Oregon State but I just have a feeling they are going to bring their A game to USC. I can't back it up with stats or even sound reasoning. Just a feeling.
