Probably a dumb question, I know. But, do you think the noise really does help? Obviously, the Tigers football team and coaches are quite used to working in a noisy environment, and I'm sure I've read player interviews where they mention that it is motivating. The noise didn't help us much last year against Bama... wait, strike that... it might have helped motivate the team enough to close the point spread. What are your thoughts on this? :geaux:
Considering our home record I'd say most definately, especially when it comes to OOC games where the opponents have never experienced TS and the noise. SEC teams play there every other yr so they fair a lil better winning every once in a blue moon.
It is not so much the noise, but rather the energy the crowd can give our guys to play above their heads. 92,000 fans can invoke a lot of positive energy. The noise does hinder communication but I think our crowds real advantage is driving momentum.
Ever played NCAA football on a Playstation? Whenever you play at places like tiger stadium and the crowed is pumped, the opposing player’s remote starts to vibrate and the screen shakes a little. Think about applying that in real life. The opposing player is already jacked upped and on edge, all the noise can fluster a player, and cause him to misread the defense or force a play. It isn’t a game winning advantage, but it gives the D an edge.
For you older folks that don’t play da video games…imagine trying to read, study, or do anything you have to focus on to do right, with a bunch of people around you talking loud and laughing. You can prolly still do the task, but it may take longer and you may get frustrated.
I don't think there is any question. I watched some show last week, and it had a bunch of guys from Florida talking about last year, and they said they have never seen anything like what they witnessed at LSU. Also Trevor Maddich (spelling?) said that a former Mississippi State player told him that when he was coming out on to the field and saw Mike's cage and Mike just sitting there licking his chops, he got scared ran back in the locker room, and had to given an alternate route to the field. Plus alot of it, is just like Boise's blue field. It's reputation, and lore. If it is already in their psyche, then it's already working.
That's actually kinda cool! Absolutely it does! Crowd noise might not ensure that we'll win every single game, but it would be impossible to think that it doesn't have some impact. There have been times in TS when I couldn't hear the person next to me talking... Imagine how loud it must be down on that field... And this.
Casey that frothy beer in your avatar has gotten me thirsty for some sweet sexy nectar of the gods. COME ON 4-tirty.
