Now be honest and also post their definition of agnosticism. Do they consider them to be synonymous terms?
I don’t expect others to share my beliefs, nor do I wish to convince others that I am right. As I said, I don’t claim to know, I just choose to believe. Also, I don’t refute findings and claims of scientific theory. As I stated I think that it is very valid and does present viable information as to how and why we are. I just don’t think that it, nor religion for that matter, has proven for fact that one belief is correct and one belief is wrong. As I stated, I think they both go hand in hand, and I think even science respects that and acts in a manner that has left open the premise of a God or supreme being haven been a hand in the creation of all things. I do however have a problem with religion acting in an irresponsible manner not paying the same respects to science.
i dunno. i am saying the way things should be defined. you either have faith or you do not. that is all. if you dont have faith you should refer to yourself as atheist. agnostic is not a word we need. it goes without saying that we dont know if god exists. the question is whether you have faith or you dont. so yes, i think the word agnostic is unnecessary. there is no "unkown" in terms of what the question is really about, your own faith. the question is not whether god exists, the question is whether we have faith. the agnostic is answering the question of whether god exists. we already know that answer is undetermined, lets get past that and discuss if you have faith in him or not.
We know and I knew you wouldn't address agnosticism by the same factors as you address atheism. Let us get right to Occams razor here. Atheist translates to "no belief in theism". Agnosticism translates into "no knowledge". Atheists disbelieve in deities. Agnostics have no knowledge of deities. There is an important difference.
wouldnt it stand to reason that you should not have faith in something you have no knowledge of?and if you dont have faith, then you dont believe, then you are atheist?
No, just because you don't believe or have faith in something doesn't mean you think it couldn't exist. I don't believe or have faith in Muslim beliefs, but I know it exists.
that is exactly what i am trying to explain, in order to make it clear what atheism is. i dont think god couldnt exist, nobody does. that is a poor characterization of atheists. i dont believe in god, that makes me atheist, not agnostic. i lack belief in his existence and i obviously cannot be certain he does not exist. again, it is simple. i do not believe in god, i am atheist. i am not making any claim of any sort about whether he exists, i have no way to know that. i am telling you that i personally dont believe in him, because i happen to believe in things based on evidence and reason, not because or random information or faith.
