Not necessarily. That's why they play the games. It does seem like in many closely matched re-matches, the loser of the first game many times comes back and wins the second game. It's the revenge factor.
We did beat Georgia twice in 2003, the first game was tight but the second wasn't even close. So I don't know how much stock to put in the whole revenge thing. But imagine this scenario. LSU wins Saturday with no Tebow and goes on to win the West, Florida wins the East. Tebow gets to make his glorious, Messiah-like return to lead the Gators in righteous battle against a team that didn't beat him. The sports media would go absolutely apes***.
It's going to be really hard to beat the same team twice in one season. If we beat Florida, i hope no one thinks that its a cakewalk after that, and that we should be making reservations in Atlanta.
Technically it's possible but not likely they face each other 3 times. If both teams win out after this game you could get into some strange land where the BCS is not going to be happy. A lot of games between here and there though. You could possibly have two 11-1 teams, split meetings... or you could even have a 10-2 team that lost both games to the same team. The 2nd cases would have to matter as to who else only had one lose or less. Under either scenario you could have the teams be still ranked #1 and #2.
