I forgot a funny story from a few year back, but when the Marlins were in the WS, I was on vacation there at Disney. We rented a car and went to a Bucs game. My dad later found out that the next day he could have went to Miami for the Marlins World Series game and get tickets. It's pathetic to think that people on vacation could have walked up to the box office and bought tickets for the World Series.
Firstly, baseball in New Orleans would be a total fail job. Not enough people to draw from. The Hornets are just 41 games and they struggle for 14,000+ a game. Baseball is 81 games and you need approx 30,000 to be in the middle of the pack. But to the topic, Tampa doesn't deserve a team. definitely not. I'd move them to either Vegas, Pittsburgh or St. Louis.
judging from the last game I went to, probably about 600-700. You can show up the day of any game and sit anywhere in the park. EDIT: The story I just read said it was 5,000, but there's no way. Anyone who has been to a game before can vouch for me there. That has to be season ticket holding businesses.
That's because LSU baseball has tradition. 5 National titles in 10 years and many more to come in the future. If you had quoted the rest of what I said, Tampa Bay has had a history of sucking epically. Who would want to support a perennial 100 loss team? Read things in context.
That's also because LSU games are 80-85% only on weekends, too. LSU weekday games aren't always a huge draw.
i don't think pittsburgh is big enough to support two teams. st. louis might pull it off, but as entrenched as the cards are there, it would be tough to get new fans.
Hey man! A post from you that actually addresses the topic of the thread. Good for you. I thought you only did one word drive-bys.
