I would let it linger with no apologies. Let him know he's still on the hot seat, and needs to figure out why it's come to this predicament and come up with a solution. We'll see if he's taking things serious in the bowl game.
This is above players pay grade. "Mommy and daddy don't love each other, but it's not your fault. We're going to live together for the tax breaks, but we'll probably be doing other people when Uncle Sam isn't looking."
No he doesn't deserve an apology. He's the one that owes the fans an apology for making us witness his "coaching" for the past 11 years.
Watching the players Saturday night, they wanted to keep Miles, the coach they committed to play for. Some of this vitriol is getting a bit strong. I have always supported Miles, and I went to the game Saturday night to support him on what I felt was going to be his last Saturday night in Death Valley. I was going to be at peace if he was let go, but I'm not pissed that he wasn't fired. It didn't feel right because it wasn't right, big business or not. I'm not sure he'll stay past next year, but since we're sitting at a final record right about where most predicted, it's interesting to see so much hatefulness spewed at the man. Alleva screwed this whole thing up royally. Aim your anger at him, but you either support LSU football or you don't. Les Miles is still the LSU football coach. I was prepared to support someone else, even got excited about the possibility of a Herman hire (but it was Jimbo or bust, for some reason)--so I will still support Miles because I love LSU football. But, for the love of all that's holy, he needs to hire a young, energtic OC and hand that over. Oh, and fire Steele and promote Orgeron.
Miles deserved to be fired, but he did not deserve to be humiliated. LSU did not deserve to be sullied.
He didn't deserve the way it was unfolding in the media, deserved more respect than what he got however, We the fans deserve an apology for the teaser of getting our hopes up.....and for being subjected to more of the most antiquated/predictable offense in existence.
Very well said, Alleva should be where the frustration lies. He botched the whole thing. There were more than enough reasons to fire Miles and but the way it went down was wrong. When the news broke they were going to buy him out and he would likely be fired you have to decide right then and there if you will or won't fire him. If you decide to you need options and be fully committed. If you want to keep him then announce it and back your coach. That way you announce your intentions early, if he goes then you hurry up with a new hire to save the recruiting season. If you keep him he saves face and more importantly LSU saves face. You now have Miles undermined, with kids not feeling there is stability. This could have long term affects, hopefully Miles is loved enough that he can still bring in kids. I honestly hope Miles turns things around just to give a big F YOU to Alleva.
If they wanted to fire Miles, they should have done it the Monday after the Ole Miss game. They gave him a farewell tour, and it didn't turn out the way they thought it would, I guess.
