... Alabama's spring game, like Georgia's and Florida's, is on ESPN while ours is on ... local FM radio?

Someone in the Athletic Department - whoever is responsible for marketing the program - is really dropping the ball on this. We can't afford to let other SEC powers get this kind of exposure while we twiddle our twats locally. I'm pissed, how about you?

Not to mention Auburn, Ole Miss and now watching the Miss. State spring game. Just about all of the SEC is being broadcasted, and of course not LSU... irritating to say the least. I was looking foeward to seeing how everyone looked especially Garrett and Shep.

why is it stupid? For out of state fans, that's the only option. It's another selling point for recruits about national exposure. Who ever is doing marketing dropped a ball.

I usually don't but the anti-LSU sentiment with ESPN, but it does seem like if they're gonna broadcast Ark, Miss St, they'd broadcast a major player like us.

    Makes me wonder why.

because. the spring games are just glorified scrimmages. why do they need to be on ESPN? i mean, what's next, televised practices? the only reason i can see for the spring games being televised is the "everyone else is doing it, so why don't we" factor.

What you say is true, but for recruiting nationally, I think we ought to get all the exposure we can.

I don't think Miles is to big on promoting it, though. He dosn't do the fan friendly things like play the ones against the ones, other than the baseball game, we don't promote it with other activities on campus, etc.

I think it should be on TV and it would help with recruiting and building the national exposure of the school.

It is an enormous recruiting tool. Its not about just being on ESPN. It creates an atmosphere on campus that brings in thousands, which brings in recruits. Even small things like Anthony Grant getting pub today is huge for a school. Go look at people that have committed to Alabama, Florida, and Nebraska in the last few years -- they all mention it. There are dozens upon dozens of future top 100 players for the '11 and '12 classes that were in Tuscaloosa today, Florida last year, etc.

Had a chance to move in the right direction a few years ago when Bama and Nebraska started using it as an advantage but people wanted to act like it wasnt a big deal because they had success, just like four year olds do. Time to nut up and make tis a big time event. Not to mention you can get recruits from all the other sports to visit for the weekend along with possible huge fund raising events.

I believe Cox Sports has the contract with LSU and that's why CSS doesnt cover the events.

I agree that ESPN coverage of spring games is over the top, and indicative of the out-of-control nature of football coverage.

Nevertheless, that's the world we live in now and national coverage on ESPN is valuable. LSU is dumb not to be getting in on this when Alabama/Florida types are. It's to our disadvantage.
