Does everyone honestly think JJ would have made a difference???

Just curious, what do you feel CLM could have done to be better prepared? Last December (just 11 short months ago) Perriloux was leading the team to the SEC Championship.....looked good through January.....and then self destructed.

This isn' the NFL - Coach can't trade for a new QB - or sign a free agent - they have to come through recruiting.....and on paper - we've got some great recruits lined up. One of them was Jarrett Lee whose HS numbers were astronomical. You just don't know what you've got till they see real action. Even WITH a great plan, things like injuries come along and there's not a thing that you can do except play with what you've got.:geaux:

    You keep bringing this up.

What part of the WHOPPING 3 points they put up in that game impressed you (sounds a lot like our Florida game)?

What part of them LOSING to the only 2 good/great teams they've played has impressed you (sounds about like our season)?

What part of Pryor fumbling away the game against Penn State impressed you (sounds a lot like last night)?

What part of him struggling to beat a 2 win Wisconsin team impressed you (sounds a lot like our Auburn game)?

Maybe we should look at the stats and the turnover ratio for these 2 qb's?
How many pick 6's has Pryor thrown this year compared to JL.

If you are happy with the status quo then you shouldn't bitch the rest of the year when Jarrett Lee throws more pick 6's or loses more games should you?
At least if nothing else you would be getting somone else some experience or are you ok with throwing away next year too?
As it now stands if only Lee plays the rest of the year and he gets hurt or transfers or plays second fiddle to Russell Sheppard we are back at square one.
We are investing an awful lot of time in a qb that may not play at all next year.

All I was saying by what I said is that I think it is the right thing to do when your first year qb's struggles, is that you should take
him out of the game and let someone else take a shot while he cools down.
If you are happy with the status quo then I'm happy for you!

Never said I was happy with the status quo.
What I did say is that putting Jefferson in LAST NIGHT's game would have been a mistake.
In this ONE GAME, there was not a single spot that anyone should have been comfortable putting in a QB with ONE CAREER PASS ATTEMPT

And I also pointed out that Tyrelle Pryor hasn't exactly been the second coming either. He's fortunate enough to play in a weaker conference against much weaker defenses than Jarett Lee has.

    Games against top 30 defenses
Tyrelle Pryor = 2 (0-2 avg 4.5 pts per game)
Jarett Lee = 6 (3-3 avg 26.5 pts per game)

Are you sure Pryor is the stud you want to use as a reason to play JJ?

    Are you being serious.
Playing against the #1 team, in a tightly contested battle, and you want "to give a guy experience"?

Didn't say he should be the only guy to play the rest of the year.

    We can agree to disagree.
The kid has to play sometime.
You don't know how it would've turned out, you have no crystal ball.
Thats like saying it was a mistake to put MM in the SEC championship if Rohan hadn't got injured when he turned out to be the MVP.
The problem I see with this kind of talk is that you guys ASSUME but you don't know.
I will also point out that we won with Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn at QB.
Hardly the talent of Terrell Pryor or JR.
Yes I am, see the example of Matt Mauck coming into the game because of an injury and turning out to be MVP as a freshman.
You are leaving out their turnover ratio and the points giving up off of turnovers to make your point.
We will see just how good Alabama is, the year aint over.
    Might as well have.
By your scenarios a coach shouldn't put in a different qb when his qb is struggling, coaches never do that do they?
You must be happy with the status quo or you would want to see what he can do because we know what Lee can do and he isn't ready either.

Matt Mauck would NOT have played without Rohan's injury.
If Lee had gotten hurt last night, JJ would have played too.

We also lost games with those guys.

Yeh, foolish of me to think wins was an important stat, or to even consider comparing the level of defenses the two have faced.
Yeah, and points scored are also completely irrelevant.
I really wish we had a QB like Pryor who has yet to produce a single TD for his team against a quality defense.

I would not have put JORDAN JEFFERSON into this PARTICULAR game.
IF we had another option (like a healthy Hatch), then I would have readily taken out Lee.

Name for me the last time a coach switched QBs to a guy with 1 phucking pass attempt in his career, without an injury forcing him to do so. During a 7 point game vs a conference opponent.
    Find me one.
There's a reason it doesn't happen. It's because that is NOT the time to get the guy into a game.

    You just made my point.
The point is if there is no injury MM wouldn't have been the MVP and we mght not have won the SECCG.
You have a qb here with limited or no experience that was able to get it done and there is no way to know without making the change.
This changed the whole outcome of the game so it is possible for a young player to play well.
Once again you are assuming JJ will not do well.
Never said we didn't but how many games did they give away because of ints.
I'm not talking about losing games, talking about guys that don't throw as many picks or picks 6's.
Talking about guys who can manage without making fatal mistakes.
I didn't say that, I said you conveniently left out relevant information.
I never said anything about wanting or wishing we had Pryor.
It was only an example and you take things to the extreme.
Fair enough, we can agree to disagree.
I'm going to try and move on.
I think the number of passing attempts is irrelevant.
There are plenty of freshman with limited experience that went into games alternating with a veteran qb.
There are plenty of players with limited experience that went into games because of injury and succeeded.
We can agree to disagree but I am moving on.
I will be a worried tiger fan if Lee is the only qb with experience next season.
JJ should get some playing time at some point the rest of the year.

    In closing.
One thing I do know, coaches usually don't stick with qb's that are inconsistant and constantly turn the ball over.
This one game did really bother me but what bothers me worse are all the games combined of bad offensive play and turnovers.
Somewhere along the season something has to change, if nothing else, growth and experience at qb.
