Does every defensive play need some sort of celebration?

I've been watching football for 40 years. I've never seen so many people get so fired up for making a tackle, many times after they were beat by 10 yards. It's crazy.

Do we want our team to be fired up and into the game emotionally. Absolutely but is it necessary to show up the opposing team when you knock down a pass or make a simple tackle?

When it comes so few and far between, you get a little excited.

    Ok, that comment wasn't cool.

Because we are turning into Miami?

Could be we are following the same path. Only time will tell.

Uh oh, is this Coker talk? :hihi:

But seriously, there is NO discipline on this team, and Miles looks dead out there. He should have grabbed Tremaine Johnson's facemask instead of hugging him. That was pathetic.

The players take on the mindset of their coaches. Last year, Miles was fired up, this year... nothing.

I actually started laughing because that was the first thing I though of. Time will tell if Les Miles turns out to be like Larry Coker. I personally don't think so. The records are eerily similar but I think our guys are not thugs like the U of Miami but undisciplined.

I agree -- I don't see us as Thug U, but the discipline must be addressed. There is absolutely no excuse for the meltdown we witnessed today. The players guilty of these infractions should have been benched for the rest of the game. I don't know, though, is the D somehow rebelling against this co-DC thing? I sure hope they wouldn't let this affect their play on the field to that extent...

Well, I wonder how I would react if the defensive gurus continued to put me in positions where my team and I was constantly burned. If the opposing team is constantly exploiting you in just about every game, how would you feel about the scheme?

The SEC has figured out this defense. It happened in the second half of the South Carolina game last year. It doesn't work anymore. Get rid of Peveto and Mallory!

Good points. I didn't want to go as far to say they're tanking it on purpose, but I can certainly understand the frustration.

I hope this gets fixed -- gotta be the first thing Les addresses.
