I need to see the replay on the catch inside the 5, I could have sworn there should have been two seconds left.
Well, we obviously don't have a 2 minute offense. After every play we were confused, Etling had to spend a lot of time getting people lined up instead of the players knowing where they were supposed to be and getting there quickly. There was absolutely no urgency in getting lined up to get the play off. It ended up costing us the game. Well, that and a lot of other stuff.
I'm with you. But the hometown guy who's running the clock gets some leeway there usually. He was down with 2.
The awful thing is that we are left to wonder about 5-10 extra seconds to beat THAT Auburn team.......
I saw it that way too, but clock operators never work that precisely. Once it hit :01, our only hope was a penalty that would have held the clock until the snap, or an untimed down.
If it comes down to a couple of seconds, when we wasted so much in the final minute, to me it is not worth a lot of gnashing of teeth.
I would like to add that Dupre should have gone out of bounds instead of trying to go forward and bulling though an Auburn defender before trying to go out of bounds on the 3rd to last pass play. There would have been 10 or more seconds left when we got to the 2 yard line instead of 1 second (which there really should have been 2 seconds not 1). That was not a heads up play by Dupre.
