Does anyone from the Big 10 deserve to be in the top 15 in 2009?

That all sounds good. But none of it explains why the very best in the Big 10 get spanked during Bowl season more times than not. (Yes, the Wolverines beat UF in 2007 - got it).

Is there a huge difference? No. Is it clear that the Big 10, as a conference, is not strong? Yes. Why? Beats me. You'd think Ohio State would have 4 or 5 crystal footballs based on their recruiting and W/L record. But they get spanked in the big one. Coaching? Dunno.

PAC-10 and Big-10 fans deny it, but if Ohio State or Penn State or USC had to play an SEC conference schedule year in and year out, they'd lose about 3-4 poll spots in their average end of year ratings MOST years.

I can agree with your post here and let me throw in that OU and Ohio State are top teams in their conferences and yet both have lost 5 out of their last 6 bowl games.
Both teams have looked less impressive in most of their OOC regular season games also.
Let me throw in Mizzou as well as they were suppose to be the last 2 years only to end in disapointments.
The problem is the media blows up teams in these conferences so that when they don't play as well in the national spotlight it exposes the hype.
Example: 2003 OU was labeled as the best team of ALL TIME!
Edit:Throw in Penn State and OSU playing at USC this year also especially after OSU in the national championship game the last 2 years.

Its very easy to see how people could get the impression that those conferences are not as tough as others even if the overall conference bowl record is good.
Its kinda like politics, It doesn't always mean thats the way it is but perception is reality.
I'm trying to remember, what was the big 10 and 12 overall bowl record this year.

    Examples please?
Of all those teams that you think weren't quite as good as last year.
Did they win their bowl games since we seem to be talking about that?
I do acknowledge we sucked for some of the season but we still made the Peach bowl and blew away GT.
The results were pretty much the same as when we beat the Hurricane literaly twice in 2005 being Katrina and Miami Hurricanes.

I honestly don't think you are making any sense here and are reaching here.
No team in any conference is quite as good or bad as last year.
You said it yourself, it seems to go in cycles.

I could say for example that bottom dwellers in the SEC being Vanderbilt and Ole Miss won their bowl games.
I could also say that the OSU should've won the BCS this year because as I understand it, their team was pretty much in tact from the Championship game last year.

I understand some of your other points and can agree with some of them btw.
I do realize that SEC fans have become a bit cocky but until the other conferences such as the big 12 and big 10 bring "it" in the big games you can forget bringing them back down to earth.
It is human nature and pride that comes out in people naturally, SEC has now won 3 BCS titles in a row and 4 out of the last 6.

    Thats this many....

I would venture to guess that Arky, Georgia, Auburn, LSU and Tennessee would conclude they were not as good as they were a year ago.

Doesn't mean they were bad... just not as good as last year.

Yeah! Not as good as last year, but still better than any of the Big 10 teams. You would definitely have to admit that your conference has been sucking eggs for the last five years.
