Does anyone from the Big 10 deserve to be in the top 15 in 2009?

Yeah, scheduling a home and home with USC is playing a "nobody". Upcoming home and homes with Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, California, Miami. They're all "nobodies".

It's pretty interesting to see a fan of a team that won't even leave their own state for an OOC game criticize another teams schedule.

While you won't find many here on this board defending our boring OOC schedules, I would like to note that we are traveling to Washington to open the '09 season. We've also made trips this decade to Arizona, Arizona State, and Virginia Tech.

It's not great, but I still believe that LSU plays a tougher schedule yearly than do Big 10 and PAC 10 teams.

Ohio State does a good job of scheduling. Yall also played Texas recently.

I was randomly thinking earlier, when was the last time a big time SEC and Big-10 team played a home and home? There used to be some good ones years ago but I couldnt think of any earlier. I know there are a few coming up.

I've heard Georgia and Tennessee mentioned as being in negotiations with Ohio State for a future home and home. I think the Tennessee story has more legs.

I'd love to see the games played in November right smack in the middle of the conference schedule for both teams. Or September in the south and November in the north. Whatever makes it toughest on the visitors because it isn't home field without the home field advantage.

I agree with you here but I said what I did about firing Ferentz because someone said something about firing Les Miles.
I was having some fun thrown at Hawker 45's expense as well as the big 10.
I think I would disagree here, I don't think Kentucky, Ole Miss or Vanderbilt are near the top of the SEC and yet they won their bowl games.
YES and NO, depends, Its safe to say that USC should be good as long as Pete Carroll is there but then again lets look what happened to Penn State and Florida State over the years, down years, etc.
It will be interesting to see if USC has any hickups the next few years.
Don't take what I said so seriously if referring to me.
I was just kidding around with Hawker.
I have never liked the way pre or post season college football is set up.
I don't like USC being #1 or #2 every year either.
I wish there wouldn't be any polls until late October or November because I agree with some of your points.
I will now throw you for a loop, I think?:)
The problem isn't with SEC fans or our conference.
The problem is that WE take other conferences lightly because the big 10 and 12 conferences have choked or not played well in big games the last few years.
Stoops has lost 5 out of 6 bowl games and I believe Ohio State has similar results.
Until these conferences have a better showing that is just the way it is.

I have watched a majority of Ohio State games this year and last.
My best friend here in Aurora is an Ohio State fan and his family.
I am also one on this board that warned LSU fans not to take Ohio State so lightly last year but the problem is perception is reality.
OU blows everyone out and yet looks less impressive out of conference.
Ohio State or Penn State win the big 10 then doesn't play well at USC.

Keep in mind we probably would agree on football more than disagree.
I wish the SEC especially LSU played tougher OOC teams but I have been pleased with some of the scheduling the last few years, Arizona St and Va Tech.
I wish we could play Ohio State, last time 1987 in Baton Rouge.

    ya think?

the more things change, the more they stay the same.

meaning, they will likely be ranked that way because its more than likely the big-10 champ will get dismantled by USC in the rose.

an SEC team will likely win it all (florida).

michigan, purdue, indiana, illinois, and minn will all suck. may as well throw in nw as they return to earth. as terrible as the big11 was, over half the teams had 3 wins or less in conference.

    thats not a good omen.

when your best teams gets skulldrug routinely and your worst sucks, theres really nothing to discuss.

you're being facetious but it wouldnt be that far off. unfortunately, you guys dont care to see it. it hurts. we understand. it has to.
no but recent history is a good indicator of future success/failures. your team is still winless in bowl games vs the sec.

you keep clicking your heels hoping tomorrow is a new day but its been groundhog day for you. id be in the nile too i suppose.

no need telling sec fans about their hubris. its been earned. come back when you have a better case. thats the major issue you're missing. its a really bad time to convince one otherwise. personally, it sounds like you are trying to really convince yourselves.

now go ahead and pick the big 11. do it.:lol:

    dont just pick, 'the field'.

you'll be fine in the big10.

where do you think the problems really lie?

    USC. Wow. One good game.
You play maybe 3 games worth any relevance at all during the regular season.

Whereas Florida plays in the toughest conference in college football, as well as Florida State and by the looks of it Miami, annually. Not to mention we scheduled Hawaii (bowl eligible) and The Citadel was a fluke. We were slated to play South Florida.

That's the first intelligent thing you've posted in a long time.

USC was the only legit team you played this regular season and they turned you into their prison b-itch. Having upcoming beat downs at Oklahoma and VT doesn't earn you any credit. On average you play one or two decent teams a year and lose to them. Start beating quality teams and people will notice and give you the respect you so desperately desire.

Hell, Alabama couldn't handle Utah, for God's sake! But, by your logic, they would have had no trouble handling USC in the Rose Bowl because they are... the SEC. I mean, Bama is one of your "other best teams", right?
Florida had a monster of a team this year. They pounded most everybody, including most of the SEC... congrats to them.... but it's not like they squeaked through in conference play. Ohio State has been downright bad in their last two championship games, granted, but overall the Big Ten is 11-11 against the SEC this decade in bowl games.... so how does that make the Big Ten suck?
Our conference, as a conference, plays the SEC, as a conference, just fine. Until that changes, your conference "domination" argument has a small hole.
You guys best worry about Florida... if they win the SEC next year, they'll have eight conference crowns since you went to two divisions in 1992. Hey, that's the same number of conference championships Ohio State has in the Big Ten since 1992.... Lord Knows you don't want the media calling you the Big One and Little Eleven.

    1) They wouldn't call us anything but dominant in the present because we have had 3 different schools win it all in the BCS era and another go 13-0. Big ten has exactly One. And althought they beat one of the great Miami teams... I believe there was a phantom interference call there.
    2) I'm an SEC man but it brought me no pain to watch Alabama get their butts handed to them by Utah. Don't forget that same Utah team beat one of your greatest powers of all in the Big House this year... My logic in no way implies they would have beat USCw much less even competed well on the same field with them. I don't know how you can infer what my logic would be from a simple statement without first posing a few questions.
    3) Congrats to your team for being the only Big 10 team to win a bowl game this year. And no less, against an SEC team.
    4) I never mentioned anything about the storied history of all these conferences. I said don't be bitter because the last 3 years your top teams have choked in the biggest games they have played in and really, when OSU won their last BCS game... It was against Notre Dame which we all know was over rated those first two years of the Charlie Wiess era. Compare that to the fact that the SEC hasn't lost its biggest game the past 3 years and only once since 2001... My logic says that they are better prepared for the big games they play. Now that could mean better coaching in the SEC, better talent, better team chemistry, or it could be they are better prepared by going through a tough their schedule. If you choose to believe the last, well aparently, according to the pundits, the SEC schools never schedule anyone OOC so I guess there must be something to this tough SEC schedule that they play.
    5) Like I said don't be bitter over the past few years where your best team has continually had it handed to them in their biggest game (twice by the SEC's best team:grin:) and the SEC has won theirs. Oh and if you must talk about Ohio State, the figure head of the big ten right now... 0-9 in their illustrious history of playing the SEC in bowl games. I don't have anything against you and I in fact enjoy most of your posts, but I think you know better than to come on our forum with silly posts about saying the Big Ten is on equal ground with SEC right now. I know as well as anyone this is cyclical and that eventually another conference will surpass the SEC, but I'm sorry, this decade and especially in the past 3 years, the SEC has been the best conference.
