ISLSTL was most likely sarcastically commenting on the stats he saw in the first post...really. I doubt many besides obviously you know ANYTHING about the "vaunted Pittsburgh State defense", or their rivalry with MSSU.
haha well youre probably right about that. they are a perennial DII powerhouse, so i was just curious if he had heard of them or not. however nobody should be too surprised right? he did have that record setting game against bama, right?
He was being sarcastic (I know, sarcasm is honestly not too easy to spot on here). But in islstl's case he was mocking how uninteresting the opponents were that Alley Broussard left LSU to compete against, I mean come on, Emporia State? Fort Hays State? Truman State? Southwest Baptist? Missouri Western? Washburn? NW Missouri State? Harding? Pittsburg State? Central Missouri? How sad can you get? All islstl did, was look at Broussard's stats versus the sad opponents he had to face (in comparison to his days at LSU), saw that his biggest game by total yardage was against Pitt State, and mocked the situation by writing "wow, i am shocked at how easily he tore threw that vaunted Pittsburgh State defense."
Did they really? What year? That would be something to enjoy a laugh over. Just like all of us here love the UL-Monroe victory over Bama this year. Seriously, UL-Monroe. How many people could tell you UL-Monroe's mascot without looking it up? I had to do so myself, and I found out that they are the "Warhawks."
And they just became the Warhawks after the NCAA handed down that anti-Native American name deal (calling the names "hostile and abusive") a couple of years ago. They were formerly the Indians.
hahah of what? also, just a couple players of note to come out of MSSU: James Thrash currently playing WR for the Washington Redskins Rod Smith who is the only undrafted free agent to have over 10,000 yards. He is 15th on the NFL career receptions list, and 16th on the career receiving yards list.
I couldn't even tell you the school Walter Peyton came from, but I know it was Div II. As for Jerry Rice, my guess is Missisippi Valley State. Div II turns out some fine athletes. They've got a Div II website out there that I came across recently that lists all the Div II players currently on Pro rosters, and it wasn't a small list. Unfortunately, in Alley Broussard's case, I don't think he will make the list. But you never told us how you felt about Broussard at MSSU. Was he a hero there?
no doubt there have been some great players from DII as for how broussard has been received at MSSU, i couldn't really tell you. i don't go to school there anymore, but i doubt that he was considered anything close to a "hero". football isn't THAT big of a deal there. in fact i lived two doors down from a couple of the better known players of the football team and i couldn't tell you what their names are.
