Congrats. You just described every 19 year old QB in the nation.

The thing is that JJ didn't do all of that every time. I saw plenty of plays this year when he went to his checkoff receiver, stepped into the pocket, put touch on a pass, etc. Everything you listed is correctable.

Why is JJ the only option here? Personally I would like to see Shepard starting to see if he is the "Michael Vick" of college football minus the dog killings.

You forgot the part about how he snores at night!!:hihi:.

Seriously, I think I've seen Drew Brees show each one of those traits too...at one time or another...Just not all at the same time or all the time.

That is a pretty good list of mistakes a QB can make, and If I were a QB, I'd post that list on my locker door so I could work on each one of them. Any one of those mistakes can result in a blown play. Jefferson has shown that he's excelled in each one of those arenas also...remember the play against Arky when he ducked under a tackle and threw successfully down field, for example?

Jefferson will be a very good quarterback next year and even better when he's a senior. Just look at McElroys performance against Florida in the SEC championship game. He was excellent. Just realize that this is at the end of his FOURTH year under the same offensive coordinator there. (JJ is at the end of his second.)

Around here, don't be afraid to post, just try to provide reasons or examples to back up your opinions and post respectfully...you'll be alright np matter what your opinion is. Also, don't start new threads unnecessarily (This was a good topic to start a new thread though). Also, develop thick skin and realize that most of your critics aren't ridiculing you...just your opinion. And lastly, it helps if you post a picture of a hot girl every once in a while :).

There is just absolutely no way to know. Here are some further thoughts.

    1. Jefferson is not likely to fix his throwing motion or his "touch".
    2. Jefferson is a very dangerous QB when he's healthy and can use his feet.
    3. OCs can build a very good offense around a solid, seasoned QB surrounded by talent if the QB is efficient. For instance, Tim Tebow, who is not a great passing QB beyond 15 or 20 yards.
    4. Teams with awesome QBs aren't guaranteed to win championships.
    5. Teams with good, experienced QBs who understand the game and can limit mistakes often do win championships (Mauck, Flynn, maybe McElroy).

    6. And I cannot stress this enough. DEFENSES win championships. Alabama is going to show us how that works in a few weeks...

I have hit JJ hard the last couple of weeks but reading the OP's list he did a good job of nailing the concerns. This season following last years season left you with the feeling that LSU was not a good football team. I felt better each week with this team based on the 2 out of 3 that the D plus ST play was much better. Due to that even the Gators and Tide we had chances to win both of those games. Miles and Crowton did not do a good job of deciding in the spring what this team with JJ would be. I would say the play calling was bad this year. I can't understand what GC was trying to do very often.
I don't think he did a good job of bringing game day focus to JJ. We had to fine senior RB's this year that seem to be like two side dishes that you didn't eat! We have 3 NFL WR's on the team that have big numbers but you feel like well not sure they got down field often. JJ had some moments but he had to many plays slow down and he is holding the ball and moving into the sack.

Future- Les Miles is the King of staying with his man. If Les puts same combo of GC and JJ on the field and I see the same same again in 2010 that I have watched all of 2009 I will be a sad Tiger.

If GC stays and everyone says the word is that he will. If JJ starts as we all expect then I will not be the only Tiger fan expecting major upgrade out of the O we put on the field in 10! Chris Garret out of Miss will show all of use his stuff in the spring game. I don't say we can say that JJ has a secure job at QB going into 10 but with coach Miles history of going with experience I think we all know that for QB CG to see the field he will really have to be amazing to out run JJ to take the job in practice away from a 14 -15 game starter. I could see JJ go down for any reason and never get back on the field. Crowton has a resume and has a history of fast starts with older QB's but problems with young QB's and his system. But it all turns on Les and the leadership he will show. It's his team as the head man and he has the record to back the fact he knows how to make football sense out of what he needs to do to win football games.

I think our D will be in the top 3 of the SEC in 2010.

I think our ST's will be near the top!

Our O will be a ? mark for me until I see progress.

I'm not going to bash a kid with so much talent but let's just say he isn't ready for that roll...

I think Jefferson will make an excellent QB...Next year will define him and I believe it will be a good season.

I definitely think JJ has talent, i was just wondering if you guys thought the light bulb would eventually come on for him. Or if you thought that by now if some of those things i listed have not been corrected, its unlikely no matter how much experience he has, it just wont happen. I am hoping for LSU's sake it does. :geaux:

our line did a pretty good job in the run game this season. Running backs averaged 5.4 yards a carry.

As far as JJ, i think he can lead this team to a championship, we do need some breaks along the way though, and we need to lighten his load. We basically put the entire season on the shoulders of 20 year old kid, and said here ya go, go win us some games. Why is that?

I think there is no limit to what this team can accomplish if our coaches would get their heads out of their asses, realize what LSU does well and be proactive in game, and not reactive.

That comes with experience and maturity...both of which he gained this season. Like I said I look for his next season to shut a lot of doubters up.
