You're funny. I actually just laughed out loud.
This is me from a couple of posts up

    KLUKE SAID
Martin, you might want to site down I'm about to agree with you on a lot of this post.

    (A) 100% agree with this statement. We should question everything about everything - yes even faith, God, the actions of churches, and anything else.

And what was your response to my post where I agreed with you 100% on two things and 66% on the other

    MARTIN SAID [of course]
i told i just dont care, you guys are so sensitive, ya jackwagon.

And the only possible response I can think of at the moment is

    ROTFLMAO:rofl::rofl::rofl:

which you do as well, picking one superstition and ignoring infinite others.

it would make a better discussion if you would add why being godless makes me a pussy. thats what i do with you guys. then i could dispute it and would be loads of fun.

a lot of this boils down to semantics, at least the reason why you get so much more grief from people than red does.

reminds me of when i was working my first job out of lsu, was talking at lunch with a coworker from conn. i dont remember exactly what it was about, but i kept using "fag". she finally admonished me for using such a hateful word and said i should use "homosexual" instead. but i couldnt understand because those words meant the same to me. i had never before considered that they were different in anyway.

now, i know red could be more colorful about his "myth" statements if he wanted to, but so many people put more value into how things are said than what things are said.

of course, that is what i am trying to tell them. the logical conclusion of red calling these things myths is that he thinks you are kinda stupid for believing them. how could he not? but he cant or maybe shouldnt say that, and i shouldnt even be saying it for him right now.

and so my real point is we need to have a more honest dialogue about these things. we shouldnt have viewpoints that are somehow above mockery.

and for example, i know damn well that you guys think tom cruise is a lunatic for his ranting about scientology, and if you deny it, i honestly think you are only doing it to avoid your own crap being questioned.

if you have to explain your valid santa claus reference repeatedly do you really think it will ever take? no because you mock those you're having discourse so they will never hear your message even if they could.

similarly, this has to be repeated to you continuously that its your method used. neither side is benefiting because the message becomes secondary.

i cant believe any of this has to be explained especially to you. youve tried this method for years and continuously bang your head against the dome of the rock expecting different results.

i am not sure if the mocking makes it less likely it will take, but maybe.

it is definitely true that i have repeated the exact same things for years. you would think i would tire of it.

No, you shouldn't. You have it completely wrong and you understand me very little. You're shamelessly trying to use me to back up your sad commentary. Read my lips . . . a statement can be a myth without the speaker being stupid. It amounts to a schoolyard taunt. Grow up.

Why do I have to keep repeating this, ARE YOU STUPID? I don't care if you mock viewpoints, I care about the name calling.

Anyway, you should know that endless mockery in the absence of any other style of debate quickly loses effectiveness. It should be used sparingly. It costs you the high ground in an argument. It is the clown that mocks. There are some clever people in this forum, your arguments must be cleverer than that.

If Tom Cruise were here, I would not insult him by calling him a lunatic. Name-calling is childish, ineffective and proves nothing. It requires no cleverness, possesses no substance, and exhibits no style. Rather, I would expose him for a lunatic by trapping him in a debate by his own words. And expect the same from him.

But it is rude, unnecessary and un-subtle to overtly insult an opponent. It makes them ignore your valid points and makes your own debate ineffective.

And violates the viking warrior code, by Odin. Saying fighting words on the net, hiding behind a keyboard, that might get your ass whipped if you said it on the street marks a candy-ass usually.

you have used the same method of repeating your message. thats the problem. mocking does not lead to constructive discourse. do you really not get that? i mean unless its with me but not others.

Wow you really have a mental block. You really don't have the capacity to see beyond Theist = Stupid. And of course by logical extension andyone who doesn't see Theist = Stupid is also stupid, of course. And if they don't say eveyone is stupid; well their incapable of honest dialog.

One of my best friends ever was an Atheist [I say was because he's dead]. We roomed together and worked together for 3 years. We were friends for 15 years before he died. We had many discussions lasting hours and quarts (cheapest way to buy beer at the time) and we never agreed about much in this area. But we always respected each others ideas, and intelligence. Same thing with my current good friend/next door Atheis neighbor.

The only truly stupid people are the people who can't see beyond their own eyelids, and think beyond their own thoughts. And it has nothing to do with God.
