If we don't play better than we have these last few games.. we're looking at 4 or 5 losses. It remains to be seen if this team simply plays down to opponents or if they just haven't improved that much from last year.
And Georgia dodged defeat at HOME against a Pac 10 bottom feeder. That was your A game? Get real, Chip. You're shaking in your boots and you know it.
We have to play better ball to even consider winning against some of our future opponents. I don't think it has to be perfect. You just can't compare one week to the next like this, as the opponents get to make their own mistakes. There are just to many factors that go into a complete football game. Anyway playing in Georgia will be a bigger challenge for sure. I like our chances though, and hope for a good game on both sides. And I would love some revenge for last years beat down.
Yes. Jefferson continues to improve even though he is playing behind the worst offensive line in the SEC. And even though the defense is still giving up chunks, I thought the scheme was a little more agressive, and we created or at least took advantage of our turnover opportunities.
LSU's offense wont be able to keep up with UGA on the scoreboard if we continue this futility. UGA can put up points. we really cannot w/o a drastic change of philosophy. that will be the difference.
An unranked MSU team that turns the ball over 4 times against a #7 ranked LSU with 31 rushing yards should answer any questions concerning improvement. NUF SAID!
The good thing is there was a lot of progress. On the other hand the bad thing is there was also some of the same mistakes or regression during the game. The good is that Miles has finally decided to go down the field with the ball. We at least need the threat against the better teams. We cant expect to win on talent alone against UF or Bama or even Ole Miss. The screen is going to get a pick six pretty soon because its so painfully obvious. Miss St just missed jumping one yesterday. Anyways, I loved seeing LSU going down the field. I also liked JJ when he has time. THe OL played probably its best pass blocking game. Another good aspect was the D in the first half. Tremendous push with very good tackling and angles. The secondary is becoming a real strength of the team. The LBs are playing well. The DL isnt great like years past but they are steadily improving. Very good overall effort in the first. Now the bad. Ill never understand running the option on 3rd and 5 or plus? The fixation with running up the middle and Big Ten ball isnt working. We doing well going down the field yet we go back to the predictable, conservative play calling. Way too many delay of game penalties, signs of an undisciplined team. Once again Miles with poor clock management with the constant relaying/looking to the sidelines. Also why waste Shepards red shirt if you arent going to progress him? Its waste giving him 3 touches per game. He should be implented far more in the game. The long snapping hasnt been good this year. Heltons punting is off as well. I loved the D in the first half but in the second half Miss St was breaking off huge chunks up the middle. We seen the poor tackling again, no push, poor angles again. It just seems everytime the team takes a step forward, its only to take another one back right after. LSU is 4-0 with a lot to cheer for in that regard. The bad thing is we won each game on talent alone. LSU was outplayed and outcoached in each game. Thats not good. I know a lot of posters look through rose colored lenses but thats not a good sign when you are outplayed and outcoached in every game. The team has a ton of talent, when things have been put together we see that talent. From here on out we will need all facets kicking or its another long season. UGA, UF, Bama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas are much better than any team weve played thus far.
maybe peterson can hold green in check. lsu can make big plays. turnovers have been a big problem for uga and the opposite for lsu. maybe uga will get the flu again.
