That’s just it for me. I am sure we will get a quality coach, should that be the direction we are forced into, but the fear of the unknown is what has me worried. With Miles we know what we have and we know what to expect. We overall like what he has done and is doing. Having to go thru the period of searching for a replacement, and then having to see what this replacement can do, makes for a stressful situation. I would rather not have to. I said it several times during the season to the haters, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Now we are there, at the point where within 48 hrs we will find out whether or not we have the coach that has been great for LSU or we are looking for the next coach we hope will be great for LSU. Watching tonites game with the thought that this could be his final swan song just makes it less pleasurable. Add in the stress that Miles teams give us Tiger fans anyway, and I think I will be drinking a lot.
No, he needs to say . . . "I'm a proud alumni of the University of Michigan and will be for the rest of my life, but I intend to honor my contract with LSU and continue to coach my second family of a damn strong LSU football team."
I don't think Les will take the job. I do think he will help vette candidates for them. Hopefully, he is busy trying to convince the Michigan brass that Gary Crowton is a genius and is the perfect person to replace Rich Rodriguez!
I have another thought on why Michigan hasn't announced a hire: Gus Malzhan. Hey, it could happen... But I think CLM stays where he is. At least I hope so. opcorn:
"I very much enjoy where I'm at. I don't think anyone has any reason to be concerned in any way [about an imminent departure]." - direct quote from Les Miles during a news conference to preview the Cotton Bowl. Michigan open; Miles happy at LSU | Texas A&M Aggies | Sports News and Videos on the Dallas C... He's either an honest man and stays true to his word and to LSU again regarding a head coaching vacancy at Michigan, or pulls a Saban...
It's dragging on because the situation in Michigan sucks right now. It's almost a no win situation. Miles would regret it for the rest of his life.
