Both team's weaknesses are their defensive backfields. I think Auburn may have more of a weakness than LSU, although Beckwith's absence as being a dependable passing down LB might even out the deficiency at this point. Which team will open up the playbook more? Does Crowton do his thing? Does Tubberville go away from his conservative approach, especially when it comes to this series? Will be an interesting facet of this game.
neither team will be able to run sustained on the other, without a creditable passing threat. i don't see LSU! throwing deep very much, but I expect to see some passing plays we have not seen the first two games. short to medium passes. maybe a JJ run or two. Les has shown a willingness to gamble, and on the road, I think he will, once in a while. If Auburn puts 8 or 9 in the box to stop the run, we'll have to throw more. Then it will come down to execution, can we make the throw and the catch. Receivers should catch it if we can get it to them.
This game will require some smart risk taking and better than expected special teams play. I think we see Hatch try to feature Byrd, Lafell and Dickson. The big question is not whether Hatch can hit them (although that is A question), but whether Hatch can withstand the inevitable pressure that Auburn's defense is going to bring. I predict we see just about all of the Crowton offense tonight. Including a trick play or two and some attempts at the long ball.
Absolutely crucial to the success of whoever is playing the QB position. If they start dropping catchable balls and put either of their confidence in the tank it could be a long night.
Three things: 1. I think we will see a lot more of Jarrett Lee here than people think. 2. LSU obviously plans to air it out when they need to 3. But I don't see either offense really having much success . . . at all.
Who was it that said, "when you throw the football, only 3 things can happen and 2 of them are bad" Lol, I think we will be just fine
I always thought it was Darrell Royal from Tx. http://www.barrypopik.com/index.php...u_throw_the_football_and_two_of_them_are_bad/
Interesting info. Certainly, this would seem to apply to us, and clearly run is our strength at this point in the year.
