Bear died not long after we beat them 20-10 in Bama back in the early 80s (it took much longer for us to beat them in Death Valley), within the year, I think. The game wasn't as close as the score. I remember a few jokes when he died that we'd beat them so bad, he'd lost the will to live...but it wasn't serious at all. I have enjoyed the bowl games under CLM. I found last year's crushing of GT particularly fun given the lead up to it (should have played a higher ranked team, lol, bitches).
I've postulated this for a while now. Our bowl opponents often struggle for a while after we play them. There's certainly a correlation there, but not sure about a causation. But just for the record, OU didn't have Peterson when we played them. Kejuan Jones was their RB.
none of those teams were very good to begin with. GT was/is one dimensional OhioSt was overrated because of their conference Notre Dame was hugely overrated (and everyone knew it) Miami was pathetic Iowa wasnt very good (whoops) OU had been exposed the week before. Tx didnt go downhill, but i guess this only works is LSU wins. OU and OhioSt were clearly the best of the bunch and good teams but not typical NC caliber. LSU has had favorable matchups, mostly because the SEC is so strong. Both NC games couldve been great if the opponents were topnotch.

Not exactly. He was beaten badly at home by LSU that year and after the game, he first commented that maybe it was time for a change. Bryant retired a few weeks later, and died a couple of months afterwards.
Too bad we have absolute IDIOTS in other threads that just want/are waiting, and quietly HOPE for Miles to stumble so that he can be fired.
