do we just need drama?

the other day we had a "does this season feel different for you" thread. my answer was yes but i thought i was a victim of being overhyped.

but these last few weeks, hell, last few months we (as in fans collectively) look like a bunch of fools. lately we went and tried to crucify a 20 year old burgeoning man in Ryan Perriloux for nothing that we've never done. the guy tried to protect his girlfriend and we all got on the internets and said he's pulling guns on people.

now because somebody started a rumor that carr will resign next week we're getting on the radio shows, message boards, coffee shops talking about who our next coach will be.

now i'm not one of those types to say "enjoy what you got" because the american spirit is in the spirit of looking for what's new and what's better. but right now, really we need to realize that we're in the damn running for a national championship.

there's not many threads talking about how we've already sewed up the west. or how it looks good for us that we'll play tenn in the championship game. but there's huge threads talking about miles to michigan.

we all like to pretend there's a media bias against us, bringing our program down, but right now it's us bringing the program down. why can't we all just look at the situation and say "yep, miles is from michigan, he might want the job" and move on. that's something we've always known since the beginning.

instead of hyping ourselves up for the big games that are coming up, we're bringing ourselves down with stuff that we can't even see. we don't know what's going on behind the scenes but we certainly know who we're playing, when we're playing and why we're playing.

can't we just talk about that? or are we so bored that we just need drama to sustain our lives?

It's the writers strike. I blame them.

haha, yeah i miss the daily show and all that stuff, but this has been all season long.

it was in the summer the last time we tried to crucify RP when he wasn't even involved in the altercation at all. somebody just named him as being at scene at some point in time. (that was when odom first messed up somebody's car)

this isn't about RP, but ya know, just using that stuff as an example.

    I was just kidding.

It's a lot of things and believe it or not it's not just Tiger fans and TF. The forum\blog world is becoming more and more relevant and people are starting to go online to voice their opinions. It's not going anywhere anytime soon, so you just have to take it in stride.

Human nature. Some people are unable to deal rationally with adversity. If things don't go swimmingly at all times, they push the panic button rather than settling back and seeing how things play out. Afterward, even when things turn out fine, they are still pissed that they got placed in the stressful situation so they lash out at those that caused their anguish. These people are called "crybabies" or, the abbreviated "babies". Some are referred to as "Mods" (one, anyway). There's nothing we can do but to try and show them the error of their ways. As they mature, they will slowly learn to calm down when things don't go their way. Candy helps.

yeah i know you were kidding but to me, as a 24 year old, the internet has always been relevant. you know, whatever you think about dandydon, he's had his "blog" since 96. he's never gotten involved in the rumor circles aside from a small anecdote here or there.

radios haven't changed much and still there's more rumor mongering on there than ever before.

maybe i was just too young when saban was hired that i don't remember what it was like back then. but i certainly don't remember all this when saban left.

I remember all of this, not only when Saban left, but every year Saban was @ LSU--whenever NFL job openings became available. This is not different.

EDSBS, a popular sports blog are the people who broke the Carr retiring thing. All of this was around when Saban left and like Stacey said, at the end of every season. Perhaps popular was a more fitting word than relevant. There are major tv stations as well as local affiliates that monitor sites like EDSBS and other popular forums and actually use information they find.

yeah maybe i was too caught up in school to care, or maybe because my mom works at lsu and hates saban i didn't care

but it's more than just miles leaving. it's like we pick and choose who we hate and we'll just go after it. or we pick and choose what we're afraid of and go after it.

i'm personally scared we might lose again because we still haven't tightened up. yet when i say that people get more pissed than when someone just says it's a foregone conclusion that miles will leave us.
