Do we have a QB that can run the option next year?

I don't like option for the simple reason that it takes your playmakers out of the game. It gets to a point where others are standing around watching instead of being involved. Kind of like when Micheal Jordan was a one man show. All his talent could not win him a championship until he got others involved. I want my RB,WR,TE looking to make a play with the ball not just blocking for a QB. I think for change of pace or to add a wrinkle its fine but not every play.

I hope they aren't standing around and watching... They better be blocking or no play, option or otherwise, is going to work.

No running QB we've EVER had has won an SEC championship. HOW in the WORLD is that "much better"?!?!?! That made ZERO sense for you to say so "smug", too.

And Hodson in a different era?! Yeah, right! Option football and running QB's didn't exist in the '80's.... :dis:

I used the word standing but what i mean is not being fully involved. Sometimes a one man show promotes that kind of mindset. I am not saying we are quilty of that as this team seems really focused. Just stating what could happen.

There is a difference in the classic option and the read option. If you like JJ's 2 drives in the second half against TN, then you like the read option. If you hated the pitch/keep option from last year, I don't blame you.

Well .. I'll respectfully "sort of" disagree with you.

Granted, YES ... there are differences in OC's and I have no doubt that Krags is better than Crowton .... but the "talent" on the field plays a big part in defining whether or not an OC is good or bad. Afterall, you never heard about how great an OC is who is on a consistently losing team. I think no beter example can be seen than at Auburn. Malzahn looked like a champ last year ... even got a bunch of HC offers. The reality is, Cam Newton made Malzahn look good. I mean .... do you really think Auburn would have won the NC last year if JJ was the QB instead of Cam Newton?? .. I don't. And here is why .....

I don't consider JJ a true duel threat QB. He's about a 1.5 threat QB, because, he's not a real pass threat. JJ's strength is also his weakness. The 99 yrd, 9 min drive .... looks great ... UNLESS .. .you are down 7 with only 5 minutes left in the game. I did the analysis from last year .. JJ does not perfrom well under pressure. He tucks and runs, and he's just not good enough a runner to succeed in college football as he did in High School.

Cam Newton was a true duel threat. Many of his best runs were when he dropped back to pass, but ended up running. The difference, Cam Newton was a PASS THREAT. Russell Wilson of Wisconsin is a true Duel Threat ... QB ranking on passing of 210 ... but the guy can make hay with his feet as well. The reason these guys are Duel Threat, is because they can pass the ball as well as run it.

JJ can run it ok ... but, .. do you really think Defenses are afraid of his passing ability??? ..... sorry .. I don't.

His value to the team is to add that dimension of the option run. It is, in reality, just another facet of the run game. Not to diss it, it is yet another chink in the armor, but, as I"ve noted on several threads ... this team won it's first 4-5 games without JJ on the field. That was all Jarrett Lee. JLee has stepped up to the plate and performed. Since he's not a runner, he can focus on running the offense and passing the ball, getting the ball into the hands of the playmakers, as oppossed to being the playmaker.

JJ is just an added distraction for the defenses. Not to say he may not have improved as well ... but I don't think he has gotten past the mentality that he is a "one man show" like he was in High School.

JMO. .. OH .. and I am enjoying this year ... :geaux:
